You do not need to create a Firefox Account in order to use the Firefox web browsers whether on one device or multiples.

What the Firefox Account is used for https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/access-mozilla-services-firefox-account

The Sync feature is a option to sync some information between Firefox on two or more devices. It is not meant to be used for backup.
