How to change default email settings that are set when setting up a new email account?
I have several email accounts that I am setting up with Thunderbird (TB). Whenever I setup a new account I have to configure the same settings like don't check messages at startup, check messages every 3min, CC own email add when sending message etc.
Is there a way access a global preference option for making the settings above pre-set? So that whenever, I add a new email account the settings require no changes.
Hope that's clear.
Thanks in advance.

I think the method of creating a custom xml file ("Small Company") mentioned in this article might be relevant.
Thank you sfhowes but on that article and in that section, it talks about putting an XML file on a server. This is not what I want to achieve.
I was thinking if I can access something like an about:config page and change the default pre-set settings from there. I'm looking to change the settings from within Thunderbird.

oh I don't mind entering the accounts manually. I just wanted about 3-5 settings to be preset/pre-configured.
Based on what you've mentioned I guess it's not worth the hassle of studying the autoconfig methods.
Thanks for your help sfhowes!
