Hi, Found how to add the Dictionary. the url is http://marcoagpinto.cidadevirtual.pt/proofingtoolgui.html

Then went to about:preferences#general

Looked under Languages and removed "English/gb only the "English/UK is now showing.

That worked. It seems either the Dictionary had a problem or having 2 languages made the problem.

Thank you very much for your help and detailed answer.

To prove it works Thannks

From Tools --> Options under General --> Language make sure that the Spell check box is ticked.

copy/paste about:addons into address bar then enter and make sure you have not installed a language pack. What you need should be under Dictionaries. If no Dictionary then need to find an other, look to see if compatible with Firefox 57 as release date is tomorrow. Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi, Thanks for your support. Yes I have an Englash language pack under languages. I cannot find Dictionaries anywhere.

There is no place for a Dictionary and no Addons.

Language pack only does the UI aka User Interface.

Dictionaries that you can install are listed in https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/language-tools/

Dictionaries and lightweight themes (background toolbar image) are not affected by the webextensions changes.

Right-click the post box to make sure [v] Check Spelling is checked and go to Languages below that and select a dictionary language.

Has been very busy. Sorry. You got lost with Release of 57 and over 200+ questions a day. Also this is all Volunteer Support.

If everything is set up properly then am not sure what can do.

Please try on purpose to misspell a word. Amazing when trying to make a mistake....

try AMazing so the word is misspelled, right click is there a tick mark beside the Check Spelling in the menu ? If yes I do not know.... If no then go up the Menu with the mouse and Click Check Spelling. This should activate it and a red line will appear under it.

Also 2nd (depending one how many variations of word there is) from top on the Menu is Add to Dictionary (so I live in Canada and am faced all the time with bad US English...... ) Ok.....Let me know if that worked. Have to activate it in the right click menu on a misspelled word.

If have another one then this is a good one by the looks/description https://addons.mozilla.org/bn-BD/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-2/

Can run multiple different dictionaries from countries but not sure about multiples from same.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

So Copy/Paste about:addons into the Address Bar then Enter. You uninstalled the Language Pack as it was not needed, correct ? Under the Menu Dictionaries you have the UK one.

Now can you Click that then please Post the name and the URL for it please.

Copy/Paste about:preferences#general into the Address Bar then Enter. Is it still ticked ? What does it say under Choose ? Is it British or USA ? If both which is Highlighted ? If anything other than the language you want to be typing in ie British/UK English or English(en) then the wrong one is dominant and you need to move it up or down or remove it So if US English is there you need to do something.

Dictionary needs to match the Language that Is in there So Select a language. Is Breton (br) British ???

Ok.........Think I got that all right....makes sense to me....lol

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
