Middle clicking on a tab sometimes opens a new tab instead of closing it, happens at random and persists until browser restart.
When this happens I'm also actually completely unable to close tabs without using ctrl+f4, the close button on tabs no longer works. I also tend to have a lot of tabs open so the close button doesn't show until the tab is selected, but when I try to select the tab and rightclick it to access the close option in the dropdown menu, the option is not present. I'm given a different menu that looks like the one that appears in View>Toolbars.
I haven't been able to reliably reproduce it, but it happens pretty often and with no apparent trigger other than Firefox being open for some amount of time. The number of tabs open doesn't seem to affect it at all.
Help would be appreciated!

Hi,
Please see this.
If problems persist, you can also reset Firefox. To save a listing of the add-ons, important modified preferences/settings etc. to quickly replicate the previous profile, please Copy all to clipboard (on the left of the reset button), and paste it into Office Excel, or OpenOffice/LibreOffice Calc, or notepad. However, it would be a good idea to check for the existence of the issue immediately after the reset.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I have Tab Mix Plus disabled at the moment. Would it still cause these problems despite of that?
You may also have to restart - a quick way to restart Firefox is to press Shift + F2, type restart and Enter. If the problem persists, you can also check in Safe Mode.
