firefox opens just one page then can't open others that remain blank but running
os: win 7 pro 64 firefox opens normally and goes to the google search page as instructed. i can google once, or go to a site by bookmark, but if i try to open a new tab with + or clicking a link, page opens blank and the search indicator on upper left continues turning without getting anywhere. there' no error message, nor time-out, just can stay there running indefinitely getting nowhere.

Is it still doing this?

sorry, but it still does. i might add that the software has become a bit slow, also opening from the desktop icon, and that opening of new pages is so slow that it looks like not opening them at all. sometimes i waited for minutes, opened and searched through chrome, and when i was finished, i did find that poor ol' firefox, in time, had succeeded in opening the requested new page. but this happens apparently in a random way. finally i will add that it looks like having problems when opening readressed pages. e.g., on the url bar the adress appears -though not always- but firefox can't reach the same address. then i copy and paste it in chrome which prompts that to get to the page requested a readdressing is asked for. i click the readressing prompt and chrome brings me there. if you can make something out of this mess i will be most happy! look forward for your answer, thanks. best greetings, bobo romeo.
Make sure you are not blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}
thank you very much fred. in safe mode it seems to be working, but if i go back to the normal mode the problem remains. in the safe mode, i tried to follow the instructions of "tracking protection", i even wrote off some of my trackers, but it has to do only with ads. going further is above my narrow pc capabilities. what do you suggest to do next? thanks a lot and ciao, bobo.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
sorry, fred, but i did get to add-ons manager, but there was no extention nor ad-ons to be disabled. the page prompted just this... also, i don't know whether now all my firefox is in safe mode or not, but some second/new pages do not open or stay running the two balls (!) to no effect. actually i'm rather confused, fred. i tried also the hot key way, but i was already in that page...! i apologize for my ignorance but you know, i was born in the tubes era...:-) p.s.: should i always enter the safe mode? firefox is about my life, it has thousands of bookmarks i use daily. perhaps someone pc wizard could help ne transfering all that on chrome, but i love firefox and, i don't want to be forced to be subjugated by the allmighty google!
Did you try to disable Hardware Acceleration?

Your 'System Details' shows:
Extensions:
Rutracker Di Ricerca Torrent 1.1.0.40 Avast Online Security 18.4.140 (Inactive) Avast SafePrice 12.0.579 (Inactive)
What if you disable the RuTracker Di Ricerca Torrent Extension? (Make sure it isn't still running in Task Manager. If it is, right-click on its Process and do an End Process Tree on it.)

The troubleshooting information shows that RealDownloader is active as an accessibility service.
Try to disable accessibility services in Firefox.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/accessibility-services
- http://techdows.com/2017/08/firefox-57-prevent-accessibility-services-accessing-browser.html
dear cor-el. thank you very much for your contribution. i believe that i did as advised and disabled accessibility services...perhaps... nevertheless, this is actually what is happening: i go to a site, e.g. a modeling shop. then i open from my favorites bar e.g. the wordreference page. it works. then i click "+" and open a new page (sheet?, form? in italian many terms are different than in english, i hope that you can get what i'm talking about), and i type in the browser bar another modeling site (i'm a modeler...). no address/url appears in the address bar and the two balls on the left side keep on turning to no avail. i repeat the core of my problem as now i eventually tested expressly the system instead of describing what is happening while i am operatively using firefox. tried all the fred's and your tricks, but alas, to no avail. thank you again, and please see if you can give more advice. best ciaos, bobo.
