Thunderbird Email: Inbox messages disappeared

All the messages in my Inbox disappeared this morning. I have a MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.7.2, my ISP is Gandi, and Thunderbird 115.4.1 is my email. I had clicked on a link in an email from a known source and when I returned to email, all the inbox messages were gone. All other folders (Sent, Drafts, etc) are there and current. My husband and I each have email accounts; his Inbox is all there too. The Inbox emails were not in the Trash, Deleted or Junk folders. I closed Thunderbird and reopened; messages still gone. I closed all apps, shut down the computer and restarted; opened Thunderbird, messages still gone. When I look at the Profile files, I can't tell which one would be my Inbox, but none of the likely candidates seems big enough to hold the, um, 7000+ messages that were there. I have spent the day internet-searching and reading various posts on disappearing messages - most of which are very old and/or for Windows - but I am unable to figure out what to do. Are the messages somewhere in the Profile? Are they on my ISP's server? How can I get them back into the Inbox? Thanks for any help.

Cannot access email.

Went to email provider website and all emails are there.

Reset password and tried to update Thunderbird. No success.

Using POP account. Can get Thunderbird to hold all information. But when it tries to login to server says it cannot. This started 2 days ago. Also email from another different account ( IMAP) is painfully slow. Thunderbird says it is fully updated. Thunderbird often goes into not responding spinning wheel.

server is mail.(server).com pop puts it at 995 port, email carrier (Spectrum) says should be SSL on but choices are only TLS/SSL or STARTTLS what to use, also should password be used.

Hi, I'm not able to open jpg files which are joined in a message. When I want to, I can't find the default application Photos in the choice menu (see the images). I have installed the "visionneuse de photos windows" which replaces the default application Photos for windows 10. I think maybe it is the source of the problem, but I can't find any solution to open images whithout saving them in my computer. I don't understand why the "Photos" defaul application doesn't even appear in the choice, while it is still installed on my computer.

Is there anybody who can help me ? Thanks !

I have successfully signed into a Matrix chat and there was a list of messages I could read. But in most later Thunderbird sessions, the Window stays emtpy although in the bottom right corner of the screen popup windows with Matrix messages do appear. In the left pane the rooms I have entered should be displayed, but they are not. When I re-enter a room by hitting the button and re-typing the room's name, the list of joined chats, consisting of this one, appears in the left pane for the fraction of a second. I don't see any item in the config options for chat where I could have screwed something up.

Hi I get out to 3 dozen spam emails a day in my inbox. I want to know if there is a way to send these directly to my junk email folder bu using the providers address. For instance, if I get quite a few from say @yahoo.com, is there a way to set up the filters so everything from @yahoo.com goes directly into the junk folder? Thanks, Marc

Hello - Some years ago I had old Emails recovered by the support team which were indeed fully deleted in all folders of T'bird. They directed me to the online version to achieve the recovery and it worked well. I am need again and cannot locate those instructions. To be clear, the procedure was from the support team guiding the way. Anyone have possession of these instructions or algorithm, or a better method that still works? Many thanks :)

Suddenly I can no longer send emails. Various messages (wh do not copy), most with hieroglyphics and mentioning the need for authentication. I have very low IT skills & have tried the easier solutions found on the internet. A particular question: some web answers suggest that sender addresses with @wanadoo.fr (the old name for Orange) may no longer be compatible with smtp.orange.fr outgoing mail. If so, what to do? Hello, to whom may help. I used multiple methods to "move" a 3GB Profile folder from the latest version of Thunderbird on Win10 to the same version of TB on Linux Mint.

I have 1 active (used daily) account and 2 inactive accounts with emails and other account data downloaded for offline viewing. All emails and child folders for ALL 3 accounts are visible and accessible in TB on Win10.

After moving the profile folder (i tried C&P, Import/Export add-on tool, and Profile Manager, etc.) all methods work fine. I can see all child folders under each of the 3 accounts until... I close TB on Linux Mint 22.

When I close and reopen it, the 2 inactive accounts only show the Inbox folder with NO emails inside, but everything is fine with the 3rd active account. All emails and child folders are the same as in TB on Win10. I have no idea WHY and worst of all, how can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance for any suggestions that will help solve this problem. W

THREADS, the display tacks a new email onto a recent thread-related or not. I did not ask for this and would like to remove it. Seems that since the People behind TB have now left us to the 'community' We are not impressed.

I am currently dealing with important legal matters and my emails in Thunderbird, disappear after I transfer them to allocated folders. The folder indicates the total number of emails the folder contains but only show 1 or 2 out of 9 The solicitor has received what I sent but I am not able to view them again in the folders. 2 of the emails I sent were very large files of photos but the one I sent today was just short and contained only text - the same thing happened again and it disappeared. Is there any way I can make them re-appear?

This only works if I forward "as attachment" otherwise the body of the email is empty without any attachment. It only happens with PEC (Certified Email) emails, while with "normal" emails everything is fine. >> In the menu bar Select Tools-Options-Composition-General option is set to Inline.

Has anything changed? Anyone have this problem? I've really tried them all!

Hi there, since the update to 128.6.0esr a few days ago, Thunderbird no longer retrieves all email accounts. In one of the accounts, if I want to download the mails, nothing at all happens.

It no longer even reports in the status bar at the bottom left that it is currently downloading mails. Another account from the same domain, however, can still be downloaded, and shows the retrieval status. As can other accounts.

Even stranger, I can send emails from this account. But I can no longer receive them, even though there are new mails available.

  • Thunderbird 128.6.0esr
  • MacOS 15.2 (24C101)
  • IMAP account, own domain (other account from the same domain can be retrieved, but not this one)
  • Bitdefender antivirus software

I haven't made any changes in the settings, and neither has my provider. I have tried the troubleshooting mode, but I still can't download my mails.

What else can I do? Can you help me?

Have other computer running W10 Tbird using POP3. New laptop W11, I had mistakenly set up Tbird as IMAP. Didn't notice it for months until I needed to clean trash on email provider server. Then noticed all my trash on the W11 Tbird disappeared. I'm messy & like trash so want to keep it on my computers. How can I change the W11 machine from IMAP to POP3 without losing anything? Another question, is there any way to combine the sent emails from the different computers?
