If Java is telling you to close Firefox during the installation, please do so. This helps it to install correctly.

If you close Firefox and it will not recognize that it is closed, please ensure that the firefox.exe process in you Task Manager is killed. If not, please do so.

To resolve this issue it is recommended to uninstall all versions of Java Please follow the steps below for resolving this issue.

   1)Remove all versions of Java and JavaFX through the Windows Uninstall Control Panel.
   
   2)Run the Microsoft uninstall utility to repair corrupted registry keys that prevents programs from being completely uninstalled or blocking new installations and updates.

Once you uninstall all versions of java and javaFX from your system, then try to reinstall java update 11

Thank you so much - seemed simple after I did it - I haven't tried to install java 11 - but everything I wanted to run did fine - I don't know why they were asking me to install java 11 when all I needed to do was clean up after myself (: !!!

You can use Firefox menu button or File menu > Exit/Quit Firefox to close Firefox.
