hello roberto, the google.com/firefox homepage is outdated and was only used in firefox versions until 3.6 - that's why the warning is now still there.
the new homepage in firefox is about:home - you can restore the homepage to the default when you go to firefox > options > general or define any other custom site there...
Thank you for your assistance, I entered about:home and I got the Mozilla Firefox Start Page under options>options>general The new search engine came up but it does not work. When you type a request into it nothing happens. I have returned to my old Google/Firefox search engine for the time being. If you have any ideas I would be pleased to hear them.
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
Check the browser.search.defaultenginename pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.
- browser.search.defaultenginename
Currently selected search engine:
- browser.search.selectedEngine
