Exporting Firefox browser info to new laptop - especially saved passwords

Bought a new laptop and I had my old Dell laptop transfer all my data to my new HP. My email account went thru fine. But for some unknown reason, I couldn't get my Firefox browser transferred, and I NEED to get my saved passwords from the Firefox Master Password manager.

I think I made a big mistake after data was transferred and I started setting up the HP -- (feel like I got 'tricked' into using Microsoft Edge browser) and didn't know how to get Firefox browser so could get my passwords. So unfortunately, I ended up clicking Download Firefox browser and it was a brand new browser like I was a new first-time user as it was 'blank'....like I would have to start completely over. I have been a long-time Mozilla Firefox browser user. I have been desperately and frustratingly trying to retrieve my Original Firefox Browser that has ALL my info that was so handy and easy to use.

PLEASE EMAIL ME AT:: [edited email from community support forum] I do Not have a mobile phone Thanks for helping me retrieve my Mozilla Firefox Browser

Hello,

Here is how to recover data to a new profile after a fresh installation of firefox wiped it (to my understanding of your problem)

  1. Find the "Old Firefox Data" folder on your desktop.
  2. Open Firefox, type about:profiles in the address bar, and look for the folder path listed under "Root Directory" for the profile currently in use.
  3. Close Firefox completely. Copy all files from the "Old Firefox Data" folder and paste them into the active profile folder, choosing to overwrite existing files when prompted.

Alternatively, if you want to create a new profile with the old firefox data, do this: Type about:profiles in the address bar, click "Create a New Profile", and when asked to choose a folder, select the "Old Firefox Data" folder on your desktop.

Lastly, if you already had had an account that account sync enabled, signing into it would also import all saved passwords and thingymajiggies.

Hope it helps :)
