Hi, I have a problem starting yesterday. When I video chat with anyone using Firefox on FB messenger they can see me but I cannot see them. Only a black screen where they should be showing. I have tried everything from uninstalling to different settings. I have made sure also that permissions were set correctly. Also it has been giving the error "slowing page down" or what says. Nothing helps. Now if I use Edge or phone it works just fine and we can see each other. This has never happened before. Also, the messenger games wont work on firefox either, but will on others. Please help if possible or tell me how.

Thank you

Does it still happen in a new profile (without signing into sync account)? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

Thank you so much for trying. I tried video chat messenger from my husbands account and same thing. It just was dark where I should see the person I am talking with. Same thing happens with any account it seems. Yet tried it again this morning also on another browser and it works.

I have the same problem. When I switched to Google Chrome, I could see the person I was talking to. To me, it says it is a problem with Firefox.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
