I tried all the steps here except malware. Still wouldn't solve the problem. my firefox keep resetting to new profiles even after i sync everything. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save

but I found that my profiles.ini couldn't be deleted. Os said the file is corrupted. So even after i uninstalled firefox, the file still there. So a fresh install will just try to read the corrupted profiles.ini and forcing Firefox to create a new profile everytime I launched it instead of reading the profile before. I got 20 over folder in "AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" at this point. after several time relaunching FF. I reckon it is because of my SSD.

So the solution was, -uninstall firefox. -run check disk error checking. -the windows do its thing, restarting and ruck chckdsk. let it finish checking and repairing, -delete profiles.ini and all the profiles folder. -restart to give a fresh start. just in case -install firefox. -sync everything. -everything works fine.

correct me if i got anything wrong.

Hi, no if it worked and you got the desired results then great.

If your using chkdsk then should run this often as well :

1) Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin). 2)Type or Copy/Paste the following command and press Enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth 3) Reboot

Always :

yeap. just want to share my experience since many people migrate to ssd as their main drive, this could affect firefox. and since the problem wasn't from firefox itself, i thought this could be helpful to other.

hopefully firefox team could take this into consideration as one of the way to troubleshoot this specific problem.

thank you for the link how to backup and transfer. wil do it asap for my profile.
