I don't want to share my location. I'm tired of telling FF to not share my location. I found one can kill push notifications with two settings in about:config

Type and look for the preference :
  dom.webnotifications.enabled
and set it's value to false
Type and look for the preference :
  dom.webnotifications.serviceworker.enabled
and set it's value to false

Is there a similar setting to kill location info?

hi, "geo.enabled" is the setting in about:config to toggle if you want to disable websites asking for your location. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/geolocation/

One footnote to the above reply:

There are a handful of location-related sites (e.g., maps, weather) that in past threads have shown in broken or partially empty after users made that change. Not sure why, but if you notice issues with location-related sites, usually they have plenty of competitors.

Firefox should remember your decisions on site permissions, so you should rarely see those prompts and only have to deal with them once per site. If your selections are not retained, you might check whether you have Firefox set to clear history at shutdown (on the Options page, Privacy tab). If you are using that feature, click the "Settings" button to the right and make sure the box for "Site Preferences" is NOT CHECKED. If it is checked, you will have to re-select site permissions in every Firefox session.

It never remembers. Could be because I have FF set to clear all history, cookies, and other bovine excrement when I close it.

You lose these choices when you clear the Site Preferences.

  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
