it's the same file everytime which is in a temp folder......have deleted all temp files and still get the question, but closing NO now allows the email to be sent , where previously it just sent a blank email

thanks

Are you using Avast? https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#AVAST

yes I am, but have been using thunderbird for many month with avast also....wonder why thunderbird would suddenly start asking me if I want to send an attachment ( same file with every/any email sent) will uninstall avast as a test, but feel it's not that.....is there a way of saving my profile so I can uninstall thunderbird then reinstall it.....also thunderbird keeps all emails, which I don't want to lose, is there a solution to this ? thanks

just read Avast caused slowness and errors regarding nsemail.HTML The release of Avast 10.3.2223 ( We think it is that version) has resulted in issues with avasts preventing Thunderbird from functioning correctly. The workaround appears to be to create an exception in avast for the file nsemail.html in your computers temp folder. I have to say "appears to be" as Avast have not yet replied to my email. and yes it is nsemail.html......so could well be avast as it updated recently..

thanks will report back if solved
