In the "Mail Account Setup" window I enter my name, email address, and password. I KNOW FOR A FACT that this information is correct because when I open my Gmail account in a Firefox window, I am immediately connected to my account with no problems. However, when I enter this information in Thunderbird, it says, "Configuration could not be verified - Is the username or password wrong?" I know that both are correct, but still keep getting this message.

Important information: I once had this email address on Thunderbird previously, and deleted it from Thunderbird. I did, however, keep the Gmail account intact. I can send and receive, but can't setup in Thunderbird.

I forgot to mention, I have changed the password for this email address in Google, but I am DEFINITELY entering the new password correctly in Thunderbird.

Go to the gmail site and read about "less secure app." Follow their instructions to set that up.
