favicon doesn't load if javascript is enabled

I have added a favicon to my web page, but it only shows next to added bookmarks and not no the browser tabs. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that if I disable javascript the favicon appears just fine on the tabs. The javascript on my page dynamically changes the URL and it seems like this is causing the favicon not to show up.

Is there a work around for this? I need the javascript enabled for this page and I would also like the favicon to show up.
