Recently it is sending hundreds of copies of sent emails to my Gmail account

I have a thunderbird account, and I can send and receive emails without any difficulty, normally when I send or receive an email a copy is automatically sent to my Gmail account and shows up on my mobile phone.

However for the past few days I keep getting hundreds of copies of "sent emails" going out from thunderbird sent box and ending up in my Gmail account.

It is the same 20 or so emails at a time and then a few minutes later the are sent again and received in GMail account I need to know how to fix this issue. I have spoken to The Messaging Coy" and they say its a thunderbird issue contact thunderbird

Since awhile while, the items I send, don';t show up in the sent folder of that account. The complete folder is empty, which means that I also lost messages. I didn't make any changes to the settings, it might have happened due to an update maybe?

My other accounts work still fine. I checked all settings I could think of that might affect it, but haven't found a solution. I'm getting pretty desperate and hope someone can help me out.

It's an IMAP account. I've selected the 'sent folder' in subscribed. 'When sending messages, automatically' the 'place a copy in' is checked and directed to the email address. Also tried it with checking 'other' and select email address. I also just tried to 'local folder', but nothing happens.

I hope my description is fine. If more info is needed to tackle this problem, I like to hear!

I am using Thuderbird on macOS.

When trying to run in Safe Mode, and compose a new message, I the Thunderbird stucks, so I cannot confirm in Safe Mode, but I had this issue in the past also on other machines/Thunderbird instances, so maybe someone else had a similar problem, or maybe it is a known issue, already in dev team logs.

I have an issue with Thunderbird version 143.0.1 on Windows 11. Everything worked Tuesday (9/23) evening and then nothing worked on Wednesday (9/24) morning.

The problem is that Thunderbird can’t retrieve email on either of my 2 different email accounts from different servers. The error message says “There is not enough space to download new messages.” This is simply not true – I have 1 TB of free space. I can send outgoing messages, but they can’t be saved to the Sent folder.

Here are the steps I’ve taken: Tried compacting – Error message says “..could not be compacted because writing to folder failed.” Deleted a bunch of old Trash messages – Made no difference Cleared the Thunderbird cache – Made no difference Created a new profile – Could download messages, but when I close Thunderbird and reopen it, the can’t download problem reappears.

What happened on Thunderbird’s side of things between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning? Anybody else have this issue?

Hi. First off, a BIG thank you for all the hard work you have put in and now give it to us for free to use. Your generosity is mind-blowing. I am using TB on Linux and Android. My email life depends dramatically on the use of aliases. When I send mail luckily TB let's me "customize the from address" and I can use anything my email provider allows me to use. That's fantastic. But there is a bug. When someone replies to my email and I hit reply to answer their reply, TB PUTS THE WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS INTO THE FROM FIELD. It puts the main email address, not the aliased address the email I am replying to was sent to. Once I did not pay attention and hit send - and my cover was blown. My main email is for no one to see, just the aliases. Please, PLEASE fix this bug. When replying to an email, the from should ALWAYS be the address it was sent to. This is really important and if you fix this, as far as email goes, my life will be perfect.

On the Android version,, things are much harder. Itis impossible to compose or reply to aliased emails so I can only use it for reading.

I believe that if you fix the alias issues, for people whose email provider allows aliases, email usage patterns will truly be revolutionized. Thank you

I've used thunderbird on my Mac for several years with no issue. But as of 6/9 I have not been able to send or forward any emails, although know if I go via the web interface that it works from there. From the desktop I always rev "smtp time out", has something changed in thunderbird or do I have to change the outgoing mail server stettings which are Server: smtp.saildavies.co.uk Port:25 - have also tried 587 Security:STARTTLS

Hello, I reply all to sent messages so that the details of the previous email are on my mail and my additions to it (new email) are on top, with the same addressees so they don't have to be added again/aren't missed. This has worked for years with the sent message going in SENT I recently updated Thunderbird and now the sent messages have disappeared. Is this a me/user error or has something changed? And how can I make sure it works like it used to? Best wishes Tim

Hi, I would like to ask you if there is an option in order to have Thunderbird (latest version) to always save emails I sent to the Sent folder BUT ask me to confirm only if the email is over a specific size,say 1Mb. I am using IMAP with standard email providers e.g. gmail, yahoo, gmx.

Being on a slow connection this would make a big difference.

My observation is that Thunderbird first sends/uploads the actual email and then sends/uploads the same email to the Sent folder. At least it seems to me that it takes as much time to save to the Sent folder as it is to actually send.

Perhaps the IMAP server can do the copying to the Sent folder without Thunderbird having to re-upload the huge email?
