I have been using Thunderbird for decades. I now use a windows 11 PC Recently, it have been taking a very long time to connect to my POP3 email server (am I using the right terminology?)--which is att.net. Then, about a week ago, it stopped connecting entirely. I tried everything, then as a last resort, I saved all my profile data (I know how to do this) on to an external drive, uninstalled Thunderbird from the PC, deleted all the files, both local and roaming, and then downloaded and installed it again, just as if I was a first time user. Still would not connect. I can still receive emails on my ipad, phone, and on yahoo.com on a browser, so I know that my password is correct. Thoughts?

I have all of my emails in IMAP folders. When I travel I don't always have internet access. It would be helpful to have access to work-related emails at those times. Two questions:

(1) Is it possible to store emails in both IMAP and local folders so I can access them offline?

(2) Is there some setting that can automatically store all emails in IMAP and local folders?

Thanks for your help!

I tried gleaning this single outgoing email of "excessive spam/sales language" (I am only thanking someone for their purchase, not asking for another); "excessive links" (they and their graphics were fine before). no "excessive emailings/quantities" (I am only sending one single email and don't do more than a few with this content ever and haven't send even one email like it in weeks); co0ntacted my internet provider (RCN Astound can't help me and told me to contact Thunderbird), I already checked POP & SMTP stuff...

"Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [VO-101] Message blocked due to spam content in the message.. Please check the message and try again."

What do I do?

I even checked that I had the latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird: yep! :/

I want to get a new PC. My emails come in through GMail and are then transferred to Thunderbird. Once transferred they are deleted from GMail. I have several hundred emails in the Inbox of Thunderbird (one year I must delete the majority!) Also some in folders off the Inbox. How do I transfer them over to a new PC? Some are important that I wouldn't want to lose - eg my wife's name!!!!!

Any help would be greatefully received.

Hi, I'm coming to you with a bit complicated problem. Please be patient with my long explaining.

My wife's parents have each their laptops. I had installed Thunderbird to them years a go. They never had a problem receiving their mails until last week. Now they can't receive emails but can send. On the other hand they can receive mails on their cellphones but not send (Android phones, not Thunderbird app). I have checked Thunderbirds setting on their laptops, everything was okay.

I have 4 laptops my own. I am going to give them numbers that you can follow me better. 1) asus (my daily personal pc) win 10 home. 2) Linux (my bussines pc) Mint 3 &4 ) Fresh windows 10 pro installed unused pc. Only Firefox and Thunderbird are installed as extra.

I load parents' mail account manually to Thunderbird on my pc 2, 3 and 4. Result is the same, I can send mails but cant receive. I have created another mail account for them (same provider), result was also same (for pc 2,3,4). I have an email account on same provider, I load my account, resul is the same (for pc 2,3,4). I tried my other email accounts from another provider, all of them works perfect (for pc 2,3,4). So, I thought that the problem was on provider side. I called them and explained the problem. They said that all is ok on their side and I should contact to Thunderbird support. The name of provider is "YouSee" from Denmark.

But....... As a last thing I add their email account manually to my laptop 1 Asus. Then I started to receive hundreds of emails from their account, so their account worked on pc1. Then I thougth, if I transfer my Thunderbird from my pc 1 to 3 or 4 then problem will be solved. But didn't. After I moved my Thunderbird from pc1 to pc3 and to pc 4 parents account and my account on same provider (YouSee) could not receive mails but could send. All my other accounts from different providers worked perfectly on pc 3 and 4 after moving.

In some way, something is disturbing communication between Thunderbird and provider YouSee on all 5 laptops. All Thunderbirds on 6 laptops have same last version. I checked firewalls, Thunderbird has been marked on all of them. I blocked windows defender and firewalls, didn't help. I also tried all possible imap, pop3, cofigurations of the provider. I installed older versions of Thunderbird and tried, didn't work either. It can't be windows updates because all Windows pc er up to date. Windows version can't be the problem because my pc1 and parents' laptops have same Win 10 Home. It can't be Thunderbird updates because pc1 has some update as the others.

Can anybody help me to understand the reason of the problem? An email account can't work properly on 5 laptops but work normaly on the 6th pc while all provider and Thunderbird configurations are completely the same? What should I try more?

Thank you all in advance. Peyman A.

I have uploaded my Yahoo email to Thunderbird and have now downloaded that to my desktop as POP. I see various folders as both "Mail" and Imap in my Profile on the Mac, with various subfolders as per my Yahoo email. When I open the various files, which are in detailed folders in the Imap folder, they are only visible as complex Text files. Is there I can open them with Outlook or Word, or something else easier to understand? Many thanks, Charles

The latest version of Thunderbird does not seem to have a way to turn off automatic sending of public key and digital signature even when sending *unencrypted* messages. (Prior to 2020, I'm informed there was a way to uncheck "sign all outgoing messages" which I think might have addressed this).

Now letting everyone know my public key would be desirable, except bone-headed email systems -- such as Yahoo Mail -- seem to be more likely to consign my emails to the spam bin with these attachments to spam as being considered suspicious!

How can I have OpenPGP keys installed on an email account, set to not encrypt new messages, and NOT automatically send public key and signature attachments?

Perhaps I should mention that I am using the latest Thunderbird on Windows 11, via Proton Bridge, through the extremely infuriating Proton Mail service.

Thanks, Michael

The messages in 2 of my Gmail email accounts have completely disappeared! Gone with no trace. How do I get them back? On Jan 1st, the first email Inbox messages disappeared and the next day the emails in another email Inbox were gove. I spent time yesterday reading ideas on how to fix this and trying every one, but no luck. Messages that had been moved into sub-folders and Sent messages are all still there. I use those 2 email addresses to operate an online business and really need the messages back as soon as possible.

The problem is only with Gmail Inboxes. I have other email addresses from Yahoo or individual domains and all of those accounts look fine.

I have been using Outlook for my mail client but am thinking about switching to Thunderbird. In my Outlook client I currently have 20 emails in the junk folder of one of my email accounts. When I setup the same email account in Thunderbird I noticed that all the junk mail is not showing up. I now wonder if Thunderbird blocks junk mail at the source? If so, how can I be sure that some mail is not incorrectly flagged as junk and thus removed?

Thank you for your time and effort.
