when i open firefox (including opening a new tab) my CPU peaks at 100% on all cores for a few seconds. this is without any pages loading and without many heavy extensions (all i have is malwarebytes and dashlane)

After recent update, I can not browse any addons. The site https://addons.mozilla.org does not open, shows the connection timed out. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox deleteting all firefox related files. The problem still persists. Other than this all the using browsing I do are all working fine. Just this extensions I cannot browse. When I click the extension icon by default it shows some extensions, I can Install them. The problem is I can not browse them. Even the recomendation tab is also empty.

PS: I am using firefox on manjaro linux.

Hello, after a power cut I lost all my bookmarks. When I try "Manage Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore -> Choose File..." nothing happens.

In the folder ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118/bookmarkbackups" there are several backup files, but the newest has the date Jun 25, though the name suggests it's from Jul 2: -rw-r--r-- 23850 Jun 25 13:07 'bookmarks-2025-07-02_184_mg1znof1NbBiyJ14ZcO9SluvTvLZI-rxPSm20YZUJww=.jsonlz4'

In the directory ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118" there is also places.sqlite from Jul 4 11:59 (that was the moment when the power was cut).

How can I restore my bookmarks?

I have Firefox on 4 separate devices (Windows 10, Windows 11, Linux Ubuntu derivative x 2).

For the last 2 weeks, every time I open Firefox, the recommended stories are active. I go into settings, turn off the setting and it behaves correctly for that session. However, when I open Firefox on a different device, or the next time, recommended stories are showing once again. I like and want a clean, minimalist interface, and expect Firefox to honour my settings.

My mail checker extension isn't working right in Firefox. Extension Link I was able to find an error using Developer Options but I don't know if the error is even related to the extension or if it is even useful. If anyone would help me, I would be very grateful.

HI Mozilla, I have recently purchased a new laptop and am setting up my desktop icons. I have the latest version of Firefox on both the old one and this one. also Windows 11

On the old computer (which I set up 18 months ago and still works) the desktop icons show the website logo. The correct logo appears for any newly opened websites for which I set a desktop icon.

On this computer all website desktop icons show the Firefox logo and not the website logo. This happens whether I drag the address or the lock symbol. I can change the icon using the inbuilt menu, but this is tedious and I would prefer them be the correct ones.

The correct logo appears if I right click on an app in the start list and drag it to the desktop.

Consequently I think the above is a Firefox problem.

I have been using Firefox for some years very successfully.

I do not like the function of opening last page I was on when restarting firefox. I use a program to help eliminate my browsing history. foxfire brings up last page I visited and ruins the work. I have un-checked open last page but it does not help. The program cannot get to something in firefox to erase my history. I like firefox but will discontinue use If I cannot resolve this issue thank you, I am very frustrated.

I get notifications from Firefox browser saying that I have messages, but if I click on the notification it just opens the browser and doesn't take me to the message that I clicked on. I can't seem to figure out where said messages are hiding. It's a little frustrating. Can you please tell me where these messages are at? It will be greatly appreciated. I took a screenshot of the Firefox version I'm running. I hope that helps.

I want to set firefox to use noai.duckduckgo as my default search engine so I can continue to type queries in the address bar. How can i change the settings to include noai.ddg as a default option?

There are four (!) instances of Firefox now in Default Apps (Windows 11). From what I can glean from searching online, the fixes either involve messing with the Registry or uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, but even these measures do NOT prevent the multiple instances from recurring with further updates. The Control Panel only shows one instance of Firefox.

What is the best approach to this problem? A "fix-it" tool would be most welcome.

A few days ago, my Firefox installation stopped auto-completing my URLs. I didn't think much of it. But I tried looking up my history and bookmarks today, and they're both gone. History won't update, and I can't add new bookmarks. In-page autocomplete still works.

My Firefox version is 140.0.2 for MacOS on an M1 Mac Mini. I'd recently update my computer's operating system before I noticed the issue, and I had to do a hard power-down a day or two afterward. I do not know if the issue began before or after the hard shutdown.

on the very top of the page right side there are three images that refer to the page. it usually show one box now it shows two. I want to go back to one.

I have no idea who is going to read this, but I was in my Cell Phone companies’ site today and got an error message that Firefox would not show the bill details. Some stupid thing about other web sites and sealing my information. I needed that page and could not see so I had to use another browser (not Chrome or Edge) to get the bill to display.

I then had a coupon to print from an e-mail from my Pharmacy. Again you gave an error message but did download the coupon to where I save things.

I do not want to use Chrome or Edge as they track the S**t out of you. I have another that is laid out like Chrome but supposedly isn’t and I use that. I have to pay for that one. The main thing these browsers don’t have is the Menu Bar at the top and you cannot put it on. I use that to free up screen space that is lost the way they do things.

Can you PLEASE get things right in Firefox so I don’t have to waste my time or worse have to use this other browser I hate.

What in the actual hell is going on? Since when did this become a problem? Website ends with .to instead of .com but this has literally never caused me any problems on this machine and I've been using the same extensions/add-ons since I bought it. It's been at least 3-4 years. Windows 11 24H2 (latest update) Firefox Version 140.0.2 (latest update) No settings have been changed, aside from my updating the browser and/or my operating system. Please help.

Ever since the most recent firefox update, my screensaver doesn't appear after laptop has been idle. According to the Mac Activity monitor, Firefox is blocking it. I've tried quitting Firefox and restarting, and also restarting laptop, but no solution.

For about a week now, every time I try to share something to a friend of family member - all I get is the rotating circle in the messenger window that pops up. If I cut-n-paste the URL to the thing I want to share, it works fine in messenger......
