As a recovered Outlook user, I much prefer Thunderbird. But there are a few features that I miss.

I frequently forward emails to one of a small group of people. In Outlook I could set up a macro (which could also be set to a keystroke combination) to forward an email to a specific address. It's not a big deal, but avoids a few mouse and keystrokes. Over multiple times a day it adds up.

If there is a way to do this in Thunderbird I haven't seen it.

Any suggestions appreciated.

thx,

We used to be able to use extensions/addons to connect to our google account to have access to the calendar and contacts. Has that capability been added to the latest version of Thunderbird yet? If not, looking forward to it.

I would like to auto download email every 10 minutes. This option is greyed out for some reason with pop3.

There is a filter option that says "fetch from pop server" that I have set to run every 10 minutes, but it does not seem to do anything.

I have a very high threat model and really, really want to avoid using imap and extensions. please advice on how to get email periodically without imap or extensions.

Hey folks ! My company is trying to improve email deliverability and we are needing to not use Gmail's SMTP ip addresses. To that end, we subscribed with Mailgun. Suffice it to say, this is actually working. I'm able to integrate Gmail and the Outbound Mailgun SMTP server just fine. It required using Thunderbird to do it so that we can properly separate the sending and receiving routes. (Gmail does not support, natively, outbound SMTP through other servers). Now the tricky part. We need to insert a custom header entry so that Mailgun can properly track "tags" to show email deliverability metrics. After much searching and experimentation, most Internet documentation says to insert said header in to the Config Editor of Thunderbird under the heading mail.compose.other.header (in this case X-Mailgun-Tag) I can do this, I can see the header in the pull down arrows for header info. However, once I populate the field with the proper tag (e.g. outreach), Thunderbird will no longer send. No matter how many times I hit the send button, it will not go. However, once I remove the data from the custom header field, it sends just fine - just without the header information I need it to have. Any ideas ?

Hello! I've used many email servers and have come to rely on the fact that as soon as I open/reply to someone, I can start typing and not have to worry about punctuation for the most part. In particular is the automatic capitalizing of a word starting a sentence or following a period. Why isn't Thunderbird capable of this? This should be an automatic feature just like it is with any software.

Thunderbird 78 introduced a "redesigned compose window".

For me this is not an improvement and makes the usability of the window much worse.

For example, adding a recipient via "CC" now requires you to press shift+tab five times to select "CC" and four times to select "BCC".

Furthermore, you can no longer change (for example) the "CC" list to "BCC" as you could previously; you have to create a whole new BCC line and cut/paste the recipient list.

Is there a way to revert to the previous compose window layout?

If not, how can I suggest to the developers that they add this as an option please?
