Hi. I have an email purporting to be from Microsoft telling me that I will have access problems with Thunderbird from September onwards. Something to do with authentification. Assuming it is genuine (is it?) I have no idea what to do. It gives 'instructions' which are incomprehensible to me. I dont even know why this link is to Mozilla rather than thunderbird. I don't want to loose Thunderbird's calendar or stored files let alone the ease of access I currently enjoy. I need someone kind and patient to tell this novice how to move forward in a pedantic, non-terminology way who is happy to assume I know nothing! Please help! Brian

This evening, Thunderbird has updated to the new version (can't see where the version number is held, unfortunately). Whenever I try to download new emails, I now get the message "Error with account [email address]. Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server pop3.iomartcloud.com responded: Mate, the command must be one of CAPA, USER, PASS or QUIT." Mails are still accessible through the mail client on my phone and through webmail, just not through Thunderbird.

I'm on tb 128 and use roadrunner. I see my emails on spectrum server but can't download them? I was using pop, they said imap is needed.

Hi. My hard drive crashed. I have a new pc and the old drive is readable in a drive enclosure hooked up to new PC via usb. I have done the typical search for the appdata profile file, but I am not sure what I have here. I have attached a screenshot of the old drive and a global search on "Thunderbird". I am not sure where the profile file is residing. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

I've read the "fixes" from 2023 and they do not work for me. I tried changing the DESCRIPTION to blank, didn't work. Changed them to the corresponding e-mail for the account. Didn't work. Changed it to "SMTP" with the corresponding e-mail. Didn't work.

It keeps changing the last one I edit to the one I edited before it. It's driving me crazy. Won't send mail unless the User Name is correct (obv.)

Whole mess started when forced to switch from Cox to Yahoo recently. Seems to be working other than TB changing the name as soon as I type in the next one in the next email address and then it not working until I change the User Name back to the proper e-mail address of the 6 accounts.

I recently purchased a new laptop and needed to migrate my old Thunderbird profiles. This is what I did: 1. Backed up profiles from old laptop 2. downloaded and installed latest version of Thunderbird on new laptop 3. coped profiles into \roaming directory 4. tested and successfully received emails and viewed all old emails.

The problem is that the Mail toolbar is nowhere to be found. Also, the calendar is missing. I tried right clicking on empty space and it only showed "menu bar" as an option. Attachment shows nothing in the toolbars option of View dropdown.

I created a signature years ago. With the last Thunderbird update, the signature font (and image) shrunk in size. I would like the signature to match the font size of the message text, like it used to. I can't find any information about that, or any explanation as to why it shrunk.

I keep several email tabs open that have topics I am currently working on with clients. Recently they have been turning blank, so I have no idea what they are--I feel I have lost info that I need to do business. Why do they turn blank? I need this fixed ASAP!

Microsoft outlook warned that I will no longer be able to use thunderbird after Sept 16th unless I use Oauth. I've tried changing settings to allow Oauth, but it's not listed as an option fot outgoing mail. Is this because I'm running windows 7? Is there any way around this, I want to keep win 7?

I've been using Thunderbird for several years now without any issues, and I currently have the latest version installed. I typically have multiple email accounts logged in. Recently, I tried adding a Gmail account, but it wouldn’t log in, showing the error: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password."

I’ve tried the usual fixes like closing and reopening Thunderbird, clearing cache files, and even searching online for solutions. Based on what I found, I’ve tried turning off VPN/antivirus, changing the default browser, clearing browser data, and, finally, uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird after removing all my email accounts.

Now, I’m unable to log in to any of my accounts, which were working fine before. Can anyone guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Thunderbird keeps crashing. That is about all that I can tell you. It started this morning (/when I got to work I fist noticed it). I have not used any add ons. I have been submitting crash reports. Crash data avaiable on request. I uninstalled and re installed, same result; crashes immediately on start up.

Please assist.

I have two computers, one older with TB 115.9.0 32 bit, pop. The other has 115.9.0 64 bit, imap, same email address. I have tried to merge them, but when i do the Thunderbird Import folder has zero messages and no subfolders. I also tried changing the old TB to IMAP, didnt work: "configuration problem". Any help would be appreciated.

I have used Thunderbird for years with automatic update. Got a Big yellow warning - something like: this is a test version, the profile must not work in esr version. I immediately stopped. Downloaded the esr version and started it. Thunderbird could now not read my profile an initiated install procedure. I saved the profile. Can I see in the profile which version of Thunderbird it can be used under ? You aught to give i clear warning in test versions when you change an user profile.

The global search in TB is completely defective. I am now running 128.2.0esr and hoped that update might fix it. It hasn't. I just wonder, are there any older or non ESR versions I can downgrade/move to, where the search is fully functional?

Dear support, I got an e-mail from Microsoft, that they're not gonna allow regular password authentification coming September and I've had trouble connecting one of my two hotmail.com-accounts for months now (the apparently common problem where it claims that the password is incorrect - which it isn't). I thought, it's a perfect opportunity to fix both these issued by getting the OAuth2 thing to work. I'm on Windows 11 using TB 115.12.2 I can't get it to work : ( I did all the steps in this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202 except that I couldn't select OAuth2 for my former smpt outgoing server (sorry if I'm using these words wrong, I really have no expertise in this area) "smtp-mail.outlook.com" - it's not in the dropdown menu. I tried forcing it in over the confid editor (which worked, I mean, I could open the pop-up again and it would have the OAuth2 selected), but no mails. I tried to instead just put in that office365 server that is given in all the examples (since I don't know how anything works, I thought I'd give it a try). There I could regularly select the OAuth2, but it still didn't work. I should get some pop-up or browser-thing or something to do this fun verification thing but I don't and I really don't know what to do.. I tried resetting everthing back to it's former state but now my main hotmail-account also has the wrong-password-problem... : (( Do you have any good ideas? I stupidly deleted Thunderbird and now i lost my addresses ad not sure i can get them back can someone remote and help me with it see this but too complicated for me for me i had a guy from Just answers do it he made a test profile and it took up of space and i saww all sorts of profiles so i thoughtit would work removing it but it did not i removed and lost all profiles

had to totally  uninstall and reinstall  and now  i an not  get it back

I had problems connecting with Thunderbird for 24 hours (I connect via an imap server from my Sky account). When this was rectified, email folders which I had created had disappeared. These contain historical emails which I can ill-afford to lose. How do I restore these?
