Hello Community,

I always used Firefox as PDF-Viewer and it worked fine. But since the last update it is not possible to view PDF-files anymore: whenever I click on a PDF or a link to a PDF - Firefox creates new tabs endlessly. When I quit Firefox and restart it I have lots of new and empty tabs in the browser, but no PDF. It's very annoying because I have to close them all manually and can't view PDFs anymore.

I have not installed any new software, no registry hacks, have changed nothing in the browsers config, so I suppose it has something to do with the update to 76.0.1

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I've uploaded a few PDFs to my company's website, but when I open the PDFs in Firefox they display and print incorrectly (with elements of my company logo in weird places). If I open the PDFs in Chrome, they display and print perfectly. My designer can't find any hidden layers in the PDF, so that's not the problem.

I have a website I use for sharing documentation. Some of these are in the form of manuals and I have no problem with these, they open in the browser as required. Others are portfolios which contain many different pdf forms. Up until the last update these opened the portfolio and clicking on a particular form link opened the form in a new browser tab. Since the update the portfolio opens but the forms do not.

When I look at the developer console I see the following error message: Error: Access to 'blob:resource://pdf.js/6c1fbe42-b5ba-48af-89a3-efb4fc5ee161?CRW%2002%20-%20Course%20Summary%20and%20Assessment%20Form.pdf' from script denied 3 viewer.js:4510:14

   onclick resource://pdf.js/web/viewer.js:4510

Is there a solution?

I have 74.0 (32-bit) on Windows 7, and certain js plugins are not working correctly anymore. I'm pretty sure this is a 32 bit problem only, as folks on other machines with 64 bit browsers don't seem to have the same problem. The site I'm having a problem with works okay on Chrome (32 bit), but not on Firefox.

This is a very recent problem, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the latest Firefox update for 32 bit.

The problem can be seen here: https://subs.humortimes.com/getpdf-sample.php

It's not just that website server though, it's the same on other servers.

The js pdf 'flip page' plugin is not able to display the file. It loads okay, but does not show. Getting these warning in the Inspector Console:

WebGL warning: clear: Framebuffer must be complete.
WebGL warning: drawArraysInstanced: Framebuffer must be complete.

Warning: Empty "FlateDecode" stream.

... and others.

The problem is the same on different servers, and on a Xampp local server. So, my question is: Is this a 32 bit Firefox problem only, as I suspect? And if so, what can be done about it?

I think my one sentence does it. I am using Firefox as my pdf browser. I click on a file in Explorer, then it keeps opening the file continually in Firefox. If I catch it in time, I can close firefox. If not, I cannot even use the Task Manager. I have to hold the off button until my machine turns off. Thank you for any thoughts on this. I believe it is a bug. WR/~ David

I have a particular PDF (an invoice of sorts) that displays information regarding one company under version 71.0 (and below), but then displays information regarding a different company under version 72.0.2 (and above). It's as if there are two similar documents layered within the same file, but which 'document' is visible depends on which version of Firefox you're running...!? Aside from trying to understand the PDF, itself, can anyone explain how these versions of Firefox differ, in their own handling of PDFs? Something changed between the two releases.

Firefox shows a PDF invoice provided by my internet bank. The PDF is readable on screen but when I print it out, all the text is scrambled (see enclosed scan). What happens? I have to go the long way and download the document and read it with Adobe Acrobat Reader and print from there to get it right. Or I can use Chrome, from there it will print OK.

What I need is that when starting a pdf, it appears automatically in fullscreen (=presentation) mode instead of showing the toolbar above. In former versions of Firefox it was possible to install a Plugin called "Nitro pdf" which enabled pdf documents to be started in fullscreen mode immediately after using the F11 button. Is there a similar function available with pdf.js or an alternative solution with "regedit"?

If I'm in Firefox and want to print an editable (to highlight) pdf page, I go to "Print" then choose either "Microsoft Print to PDF" or "Wondershare PDF element". What is displayed is never right. It may show the 1st page . . but not the rest; or nothing at all. I was going to try "Nitro Pro 12" but it appears that there is no way to install its "plug-in" now with Firefox.

The end I want to get to is to have the ability, from within Firefox, to convert or "print" a pdf, that is editable, and will allow highlighting, from the webpage HTML. It would be nice if it could be done, all at once right from the browser, without having to go through multiple steps - like taking a "screenshot" then uploading that image to some other site - which has also had unsatisfactory results (each "step" having the potential for some other unforeseen screw up or incompatibility). I've spent a lot of time searching and can't find anything.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I notice this strange behaviour using my favourite WEB browser: Firefox. Using firefox plug-in to preview into browser a PDF document I notice some character set mismatch happend.

For character set mismatch I mean: page layout perfectly shown but text shown using not appropriate chars. Due to this behaviour it is not possible to understand content of page. This strange behaviour do not effect all PDF pages, but only some of them.

From the pdf plug-in I tried to download the PDF file and into pop-up window I choise to open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Into Adobe Acrobat Reader DC all PDF pages are perfectly shown.

I think some "unusual" PDF setting is not perfectly interpreted by pdf plug-in

I will attach: 1) a PDF page as shown into Firefox PDF plugin 2) the same page as shown into Internet Explore PDF pluin or Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

    • - Upload images hangs, so no image is available here.

The problem is worked around setting into Firefox a different method to handle PDF file, but it is possible such information can be usefull to better design Firefox PDF plugin.

I am having trouble downloading PDFs with Firefox.

- I know how to download the PDF as a whole and name it accordingly.

- I cannot find how to download specific, non-consecutive pages from the PDF (example: pgs. 1,3,5). I have tried selecting the "print" button and redirecting download to my PDF program (Adobe PDF). Unfortunately, this only allows me to download consecutive pages (example: pgs. 1-5).

Any ideas?

Also, if I try to change my default PDF viewer in Windows, it won't even let me change to Mozilla, it just pop backs to Microsoft Edge. However, if I try to set my default PDF viewer to Adobe or anything other than that, that totally works fine.

At night, my web page will be in a night mode (with a black background). I'd like to launch the embedded PDF viewer in night mode as well. Are there URL parameters to do this? Does the built-in viewer even support a night mode? I know that Acrobat supports a night mode.

Hi, I'm currently running version 63.0.1 , something has changed with my browser, previously when I clicked on a pdf file it would automatically open within the firefox browser. Basically, if a PDF file has italics, they print out bold. If I print to a file and reopen it in firefox, it also appears bold and not italic on the screen.

I read a similar post where a user had the same issue, but their solution seemed to be "open in Adobe Reader," which seems like a lame solution.. Their complaint was that the extra step is annoying, and I agree. When I download a PDF file or open one from Firefox, I should be able to do so within the browser. I can do it chrome, but I prefer not to use chrome.

I tried to attach screen shots of the page as it is supposed to be and how it actually prints, but the "Uploaded images:" box just keeps spinning. If anyone can help and would like to see what my issue actually looks like, I can sent you a picture somehow, I'm sure.
