Using Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 and Firefox 75.15.0 esr

I have a number of desktops defined in "spaces" and each app goes into one. Something odd has happened with Firefox.

When I select a different Window from the Window dropdown, or from the Dock, sometimes there is a "sliding sideways" effect.

And if I go into Firefox by going to the Dock and tapping its icon - it goes to one window; BUT if go to the Dock and tap again, it changes to another window. I think, always the same two.

So its sort of behaving like "spaces" does, but when I view all the "desktops" in the selection view at the top of the screen, I only see one containing Firefox windows.

Its really annoying when the window changes like that, and I don't know how to get them into a single grouping. I have quit & reopened many times, but it persists.

If I knew which of the Firefox Windows were in each of these glitchy "pseudo-groups" then I might quit all of one group, and then re-open them. Not sure if there are just two such pseudo-groups, or more.

Whenever I try to play videos on Firefox, the elements don't load right and no video will begin. On Youtube, this is usually either a blank page with no video element, or I get an error stating that the video can't be played. On Twitch, I get the streamer's default 'not streaming' message, even if they are live, and VODs don't work. I have several extensions to protect privacy and block ads, but even if they are all turned off I still have this problem. I've also tried turning my VPN off and on, and setting it to various different locations. Nothing works. I can watch videos on another browser without issue. When using Netflix in full screen there is a slim transparent bar which shows my desktop at the top of the frame. It was not here a few days ago, i might have updated since then. It does not appear in YouTube full screen but i have not tried any other websites to see if it's there. Restarting my system and Firefox did not resolve the issue. Is there any way to fix this, or do i have too wait for a bug fix/the problem to be identified?

I've just been upgraded to Firefox 123.0 on my PC and it has not gone well. 1. None of my opened tabs were there. There was just 1 tabs announcing the new version.. 2. I tried to sync from my laptop and the tabs all say "New Tab". When I "Select All Tabs" and Refreshed, they just continuously circle and do not load. This is the worst upgrade I have ever seen. The browser is totally useless now, because I cant get anything to run. Can I go back to a prior version?

In regular web pages, I'm able to hover over an URL / picture w/ URL behind it, etc.... It shows up on the status bar at the bottom of the page (that's what it used to be called). Sometimes I can't.

Somewhere around the same time as I started noticing this, I had just upgraded to a Win11 computer. So, when I try to hover over a suspicious link, I get nothing!

Is there code these people can put in that shields them from hover? So, we can't see what we're getting into? If so, then I presume if I can't hover, don't click... Right?

TIA

when I click on links to take me to website through my email in Thunderbird that I will get an error message that reads "we could not verify the certificate, reason=wronghost"

Do you get the error in Thunderbird or in the browser? What browser?

But, if I copy link and copy into browser it works fine.

Is that the same browser as the one which opens when you click the link in Thunderbird (a.k.a. your default browser)?

In answer to these questions: I use Chrome or Duck Duck Go. Duck Duck Go is my default browser. If I copy and paste link from email in browser it opens, but if I click on link in email I get the error message above. Also when you reply the email is a do not reply email so I can't reply back. Please include a good email so I can answer any questions you may have. Thank you

Firefox has stopped printing webpages. I have done all the processes suggested on help and user pages. To be clear: - Same webpages print on my computer via Edge -All other programs print fine to any of my 3 printers on my home network and my printer at work. -There are no Error messages, I get the print preview, and I can alter any of the parameters there, I click Print and it closes the window, as it used to but it just never turns up at the printer. -I have tried the application menu, the Menu Bar (Filr, Print) and Ctrl P: All exactly the same. -I have removed and reinstalled ALL of my printers. My wife's computer has the exact same version of Firefox and has no problems whatsoever. Any thoughts, please?

Hi jscher2000, I want to thank you for your advice concerning a problem I had downloading Firefox to my Windows 10 laptop. I tried to follow your advice but was not successful. In the end, I googled "what if Firefox doesn't install". It took me to a website, https://www.makeuseof.com/fix-firefox-not-installing-windows , which took me to an article entitled "8 Fixes to Try if Firefox Won't Install on Windows". I tried #1 and #2 without success. #3, Temporarily Disable Your Antivirus Software, worked. Firefox is up and running. Feel free to share this with anyone who has a similar problem. No guarantee that it will work, but its worth a try. Again, thank you. drzee1946

Again I had to create a new question because i still get an "Unexpected error" when I try to answer. (By the way I tried all suggestions to fix the error and also reinstalled Firefox but still have the error)

jscher2000 i think you are correct. The blue link in the PDF file is not a web link but a link to the specific attachment. It appears browsers are currently unable (not programmed) to access attachments directly. I tried in MS Edge with the same result. After contacting MS Support, MS stated that they are aware of the issue and that they are working to fix it in a future release of Edge.

Attachments can be accesses in Adobe Acrobat as you described, but it would be good to be able to access them directly from Firefox instead of having to save them and then using Acrobat.

This AM, I opened my Firefox Browser for the first time today and attempted to sign into my EaseUS account. I was confronted by a "request" to add "Browsing Safety by Safely" as an add-on to my Firefox. However, it would not let me to skip this "request" without adding it to Firefox. Nothing I attempted worked. I've never heard of a compulsory add-on, least of all from Mozilla! If I would have had the time, I'd have tried different accounts/log-ons/browsers, etc. However, I didn't have the time to do it then. Help please.

What is this? Have you heard of it? Do I have a problem? Should I remove the Add-On?

Thank you.
