How can I set Firefox as default in Windows 10?

For about six months now on my work computer, every time I open a new firefox session, I can't access gmail at all. The page will not load in any way. Google calendar, google search, docs, etc. all load just fine. It takes up to 20 minutes before, randomly, the page begins to load.
The function of "find" for search is not working right

When I click the Back button, and there are several items in the dropdown history list, seems that I have to hold the left mouse button down for some pre-determined interval before the whole dropdown list is presented.
Before this interval transpires, the button appears pressed, but no dropdown list is presented.
Is there a configuration variable that sets this minimum time to hold the button down, before the dropdown list is displayed ?
If not, is there some other method to have the dropdown list displayed sooner, if not immediately ?
This is Firefox 7.0, Windows 7 x64

The issue arises with the following steps
find a cell with text (not formula) place the cursor in the edit line (formula bar) backspace to remove all of the text type in new text hit enter
A new line, char(10) is inserted after the text. Confirmed with a find function.
It did this with Firefox but not Chrome. Reported in Google sheets forum title "Why are line breaks being added to cells randomly" Can't see how to add link here.

I want to change which fonts Firefox uses for these "(Defaults)," and I want those defaults to apply to every writing system. Going through every writing system and individually changing them - for every user on the system, mind you - is not an acceptable solution. I didn't see anything in about:config. Setting Firefox to run as admin through compatibility settings causes what seems like infinite prompts to run as admin, and basically never opens. The only solution I have to being able to open Firefox as admin is to do it manually, whereas before I haven't had this problem to the same degree. Occasionally before this infinite series of prompts, it would sometimes prompt me 3 times before opening Firefox as admin while having "Run as Admin" enabled under compatibility settings.
Not sure why this is happening, or why it's getting worse, reinstalling did not fix this issue either. So whatever is happening, I thought I'd just report it here to see if anyone else is experiencing something similar to this.
