Lately I installed a new PC, and tried to download FireFox and sync my data. But my data seems like a few years ago, not as new as another PC I have now. I'm sure I have logged in with same account on them, how's this happend?

I use add-ons to store my writing drafts. For stability, I need to reinstall my OS and Firefox. Will Firefox Sync transfer the add-on data, or just the add-ons? Can you transplant the Storage files for those, or are there tools to decrypt them?

(This is copied nearly directly from a post on r/firefox made a few hours ago—I decided it was best to spread it here for more exposure. The only change was the removal of the add-on names from the title due to character limits; these are Form History Control and Text Area Cache.)

I hope the title explains what I am looking for well. My main computer has had... spooky behavior with its file system recently, and I have been recommended to make a back-up, format my drive, and re-install my operating system (possibly upgrading from Windows 10 to 11 in the process). The biggest hold-up to me doing so is this, as I have no idea how to transfer the extension data between installs, or convert it into a human-readable form. The sheer number of writing drafts in those extensions both make losing them an unacceptable situation and copying the data manually into a document entirely impractical. So, can anyone help me with this? For context, I was on Firefox 138.0 when I stopped using my main computer due to those issues. (Note: It will certainly last long enough to do the Firefox Syncing and other back-up operations, just not for many more weeks or months.)

I have "Always ask you where to save files" checked in my preferences, yet Firefox saves downloads to my Downloads folder without asking. This was working in the past, it's only recently broken.

I'm using Firefox 140.0.2 on Mac (aarch64).

What's wrong with the new release?

Today i decided try the new firefox(140) since it's going to be ESR, but i'm getting hot-fan from a couple of tabs (particularly video streams). Second it's slower and seems to have 4second delay for shutdown..

The laptop is running linux mint with intel i5 (11th), tigerlake (iris xe) gpu. It might not be newest, but it shouldn't have a problem with regular web browsing.

Is it a bug? like it's not maxing my ram or cpu during use.

Hi. I installed Firefox on my old Hp, and have now taken another laptop, an Acer Aspire One and installed Firefox on that as well, but a extended support version. I am struggling to import all my bookmarks (ex Chrome) to my Acer, and in the struggle I done something wrong since Firefox on the Acer is now locked or blocked !! I am an "old Timer" and not very computer literate. Can someone help me solve these issues so that I can move away from the HP and depend on the Acer. I found Firefox easier to use as compared to Chrome, which seemingly demanded more memory from the computer.

When I start Firefox without any internet, i.e. Airplane mode, the browser starts up pretty quickly. However when I connect to internet, either via WiFi or LAN, the startup time increases dramatically. This means that Firefox is connecting to the internet, waiting for some server to respond and then finish the launching of the browser. I have been able to figure out that Firefox connects to the following URLs when it launches.

  1. cdn.statically.io
  2. img-getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net
  3. ublockorigin.github.io
  4. aus5.mozilla.org
  5. content-signature-2.cdn.mozilla.net

Please note that this is not the complete list, it is just what I have been able to figure out. There might be other URLs that Firefox connects too, which I am not aware off.

So my questions are as follows 1) How do I come to know all the URLs Firefox is connecting too, when it launches? 2) How can I check how much time does the server take to respond back to Firefox? 3) Is there a way that to stop the connection between these servers and Firefox? For example, pockets is getting shut down and I do not use pockets. So I maybe the connection to img-getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net can be terminated or stopped. OR maybe the connection to content-signature-2.cdn.mozilla.net can be asychronous and need not hold up the browser loading and so on

In the latest update, the search engine toggle needs me to use the mouse. First, I just had to press ↓ and then toggle between the search engines. Now, I have to do an Shift + Tab to scroll through the list, which is tedious!

Can the old functionality be brought back or maybe a shortcut added for the toggle?

A few months ago, my Firefox browser became corrupted and I had to delete and re-install it. My browser now works, and I don't have any issues downloading new documents, but every document I'd downloaded on my first browser that was labelled a Firefox PDF document is now corrupted. I can work around it on my own computer, but if I try to email the documents to someone else they just get the corrupted file. I've tried converting the PDFs into a different type of document and then reconverting them to PDFs, but the PDF version is still corrupted. Is there any way to fix this? Or is my only option converting everything to a different type of document?
