Having issues sending e-mails due to message: "e-mail not sent. Cannot connect to SMTP server 47.43.26.4 (47.43.26.4:587) connect error 10060" Requires 2-6 attempts to send. Also, problems with sending attached files, claiming to be too large.

After many succesful years using Thunderbird suddenly the update 5.18.0 (64-bit and reporting as supposedly up to date) ) has completely lost all my folders and screwed up my email accounts!! I've been having an absolutely ghastly time for weeks trying to make sense of it and just feel like junking it...HELP! My email accounts that have been working successfully without problem for many years now sometimes send and not receive or the other way round, not send but receive. Additionally I cannot access critical and important emails (serious medical, legal and personal). I tried to change the staus of the accounts from POP to IMAP and ...lo and behold, the program does not allow it!?!? Why the hell not?

I am running T-bird 156.0 on Win 11 Pro. This issue started several weeks ago. When I try to send, reply or forward an email, I get a pop-up window asking me to enter the password for the outgoing server. I enter the password, click OK, and then get another pop-up telling me the connection to the outgoing server failed. So for now, I save such emails to the Drafts folder, then log onto my webmail and send them from there.

I checked the settings using the Edit Outgoing Server screen, and used the connection setting test on the edit screen, and it tests okay. The password is correct. It is the same one I use with web mail.

Don't know what else to try, and the fact that it just started recently after using Tbird for many years, is a puzzler.

Please give me your thoughts and ideas.

When attempting to send messages I get the following message:- Sending of the message failed. "An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: * OK Gimap ready for requests from 149.88.101.3 d2e1a72fcca58-87b3d1b4addmb72546740b3a"

For a long time I've been using ublock origin to block parts of emails and RSS feeds to make them more readable. This is not so much to block ads as to block parts that make it hard for me to read things. I am partially sighted. Flashing text etc. is very hard for me.

Now the extension loads but the element hiding part doesn't work on either emails or RSS feeds. I click on it but it no longer selects any part of the emails or feeds.

Why is this and what other options are there?

It still works on Firefox.

I downloaded Thunderbird on my new Windows 11 laptop and began setup by entering my full name and email address ([redacted]@utexas.edu, operated by Gmail). The next screen asks for my "email account password." I entered my Google password that allows me to access my email at Gmail (https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox). But "Authentication failed," and I am stuck! I cannot finish installing Thunderbird. I have used Thunderbird for many years on my prior laptop (Windows 10).

Hi, We try to pass from WIN10 to Win 11 with new PC's but we make a mistake (unknow for us) We buy a PC HP15" with WIN11 ( june 2025) first and later we buy a PC second Hand LENOVO14 with WIN11 holder than PC HP (2020) Impossible to creat account and lock the PC HP15. Now One PC win10 is locked impossible to join Serveur SMTP) the 2 PC's LENOVO and HP not working Thanks for some comments

Essentially, I want to back up my Thunderbird. The standard way seems to be via Export / Import, but there is an implied limit of 2GB. The export function has successfully ended and produced a file of 15GB. Can I rely on this? (In the sense of being able to Import it should I need to?

My computer crashed while Thunderbird was updating, and now Thunderbird says, “The installation seems to be corrupt.” I have years of important emails stored in Thunderbird and I’m worried about losing them.

I would like to know how to safely back up my Thunderbird profile and emails before reinstalling or repairing Thunderbird. I’m using Windows and need to make sure my existing emails, accounts, folders, and settings are preserved.

I have new notebook computer plus the •entire• old computer data on a USB stick.

I use a Thunderbird add-on named "Full Address column" on my Windows 11 system. (TBird version 152.0.1, moving soon to 156) It adds a field with the heading: Sender (@) I would like to filter incoming email based on that field. I see that I can edit a filter to customize a Message Header. Should I use Sender (@) or just Sender Or something else ? The use case is rare enough that I thought I'd ask here before experimenting.

Yes, this outlook account was made earlier this year. I've tried all of the "fixes" offered on here and across the internet. I'm changed to to password and got the app password. I've deleted 2FA to see if that would work. I've deleted the Oauth key and it refreshed to a new one. I've done it all and TB-sync is not available to me cus apparently now i'm right outside the app version limit.... how convenient. It's very frustrating as i really like the app and still use it to read my emails but it's very annoying to have to open the outlook app and go through all that just to send an email. I keep getting told it is possible, i've been battling this on and off for months. I cant just get a new email either as i already swapped everything to the outlook one and my work using out look as well. i am able to sync my calendar even but apparently just not my outgoing emails. I would like to transfer my email but the other email i have is a proton email and they are a whole other headache. Please help.

Some messages download normally, others disappear from Mailwasher (as expected after a successful POP retrieval) but never appear in Thunderbird. No error messages are shown. Environment: • Email client: Thunderbird (current version) • Account type: POP3 • Anti spam tool: Mailwasher Pro • OS: Windows 10/11 • Mailwasher behaviour: Messages appear correctly in MW’s inbox list. • Thunderbird behaviour: Using Get Messages retrieves some emails, but others vanish from MW without being written into Thunderbird’s Inbox. Detailed Behaviour: 7. Mailwasher shows new incoming messages normally. 8. When Thunderbird performs a POP “Get Messages”: • Some messages download correctly into Thunderbird’s Inbox and disappear from MW (expected). • Other messages disappear from MW (as if retrieved) but do not appear in Thunderbird. 9. These “evaporated” messages are not: • In Inbox • In Junk • In Trash • In Local Folders • In any filter redirected folder 10. No error dialog appears in Thunderbird. 11. Mailwasher logs show the messages were handed off to the mail client (this by omission). 12. The issue has become more frequent recently. Suspected Areas: • Thunderbird POP retrieval logic intermittently failing to write messages to Inbox. • Possible interaction between MW’s “hand off to mail client” and Thunderbird’s POP session. • Potential profile corruption or POP state file corruption (popstate.dat). • Possible Thunderbird bug affecting selective message retrieval. Hello. i have latest beta 156.b3 64bit, after updating to beta 3 my tb offer retry passwords to many google acccounts and opening FireFox for again login in to each account. I have turned off checking mails on the start up for them and turn off checking mails, but again and again opening firefox for signing in. i closing firefox but TB not continue checking mail from another mailboxes, they stopped and seems like waiting for signing. i try to manually click for each mailbox "get message", but this no work, could you help me turn off login through firefox?

Please help me log on to Thunderbird in order to open a mailbox file sent to me containing email messages to and from the church I worked for until the June 28, that were in an account they closed before I could archive materials in it.

What I see When I reply to an email written in classic Outlook for Windows, the quoted Outlook text gets a big gap above and below every single line, and its font changes. This happens as soon as Thunderbird processes such a message again, for example when I view my sent reply, reply to my own reply, forward it, or reopen a saved draft. Thunderbird users who receive my replies should see the same gaps.

Why it happens (as far as I can tell) - Outlook writes every line as its own paragraph and relies on a small style rule that says "no extra space between paragraphs". - Since version 151, Thunderbird puts the quoted email's style rules into a protective container (`@scope`) so they cannot change my own text (bug 1967725). - Thunderbird's own safety filter for HTML emails treats this container as a suspicious rule and deletes it, together with everything inside it. The "no extra space" rule is lost, and the gaps appear. - Older versions such as Thunderbird 140 ESR don't understand the container at all and ignore the rules even in the first reply.

In short: one Thunderbird feature adds the container, another Thunderbird feature removes it again.

How to reproduce (no Outlook needed) The attached test message contains two quotes with the same spacing rule: quote A inside the container, quote B without it. In Thunderbird 155.0.1 quote A shows big gaps, while quote B stays tight.

What would help Keep protecting my own text from the quoted styles, but in a form that Thunderbird's own filter and older email programs don't remove, for example by limiting the quoted rules to the quote with an ordinary class name instead of `@scope`.

Technical pointers - Filter: pref `mail.html_sanitize.drop_conditional_css` (default true); `NoConditionalRules` in `stylesheet.rs` rejects `CssRule::Scope`. - Container: `QuoteSanitizer.sys.mjs` (Phase 2), called from `MsgComposeCommands.js`. - Tested with Thunderbird 155.0.1 on Windows 11.
