I just installed the new Firefox version (131.0.2) and the installation gave me a new desktop lnk (the old one is still on the desktop). The new link (to an .exe file in "C:...\AppData\Local\Mozilla Firefox\browser") starts the new version of Firefox in its newborn virgin state, i.e., EVERYTHING from my previous version is missing.

The old link (which points to an identical .exe file in a completely different directory "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser" with same date stamp as the .exe file mentioned above) when executed results in an error message: Platform version '131.0' is not compatible with

                                                                                              minVersion >= 131.0.2
                                                                                              maxVersion <= 131.0.2

NOTE: The files in each of these two directories appears to be identical. I really want my old profile back.

I Menu app icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information

   Under 'Application Basics' - Profile Folder - click on 'Open Folder' 

This opens a new window showing the contents of your current in use profile name folder.

   Exit Thunderbird now - this is important. 

Look for the following files and delete them.

   cert8.db - obselete file
   cert9.db - currently used file
   key3.db - obselete file
   key4.db - current used file
   logins.json - current used file
   pkcs11.txt (some people report this file missing)
   secmod.db - obselete file
   session.json
   xulstore.json 

See next comment before you start Thunderbird as you need to empty cache files.

Start Thunderbird

Add yahoo and make sure all the settings are correct. Make sure Authentication Method is Oauth and user name is full yahoo email address.

Report on results.

ADDITIONAL Whilst Thunderbird is closed - after you have deleted the files mentioned previously.

access : C:/Users/ User Account/Appdata/Local/Thunderbird/Profiles/ Please note this is the Appdata 'Local' location which the computer uses as a cache. Be sure you are in the 'Local' and not the 'Roaming' Delete the contents of the 'Profiles' folder.

then start Thunderbird. keep having to reset my secure key password and tried this in "Roaming" instead of "Local" Help!

The article update 2 days ago indicates that there are three vertical dots to the right of the URL address filed that can be used to add a website to home screen...mine doesn't have the three dots...my browser is up to date

I just received an email in Thunderbird through a personal Gmail account. It was not want I was expecting, so I logged into Gmail and checked there. The messages were completely different, including the return email address, and the attachment - the attachment wasn't missing, it was a different document all together.

MS changed authorization method and now it require protocol OAuth2. I've changed my account for two layers authorization and tried change Thunderbird configuration due https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird/form but it not works. I can't connect. I've no problems to connect with Outlook and standard mail app for Win2010 or using BlueMail on android. Ive Thunderbird v. 115.11.0 (32)

Can You help me? I'd prefere to stay with Thunderbird.

Lost power yesterday in N. Florida. Turned computer on today. It installed Microsoft updates, rebooted, then did a cleaning by Microsoft and restarted. Took a while. Since then I am not receiving inbound EMails. Sent outbound EMail and got notice from Norton that I needed to validate certificate. Did that and sent EMail. My bottom bar says I am connected to my imap. When I click on download messages all I get is a brief message that I am connected to the gmail imap. But no EMails. Is that Norton certificate the problem?

I have suddenly developed major problems with my email system on my Desktop.

My Inbox has been frozen since September 24th, why is this please? I am receiving emails through my iPad and Android phone.

When using MailMerge in Tb with Windows Excel as data source <{{xxxxx@xxx.com}}> always comes out corrupted. If putting just an email address in the "To:" box all works fine with {{xxxxxxxxx@xxx.com}}. If, as I normally need to do, I precede the email address with the clients name and thus add <................> to the address, the address becomes corrupted. If I do not add the lesser/greater signs the address is just added as an extra piece of text. E.G. {{Forename}} {{Surname}} <{{E-mail Address}} translates as Joseph Bloggs <"\"joebloggs"@sky.com>. Without <> it translates as Joseph Bloggs joebloggs@sky.com. All was fine when using Tb 115.15.0.

After your most recent update, a tab preview is now displayed when hovering the mouse over background tabs. I don't like it at all and want to delete/remove/stop it, but can't find any way to do it. Please help.

I am unable to use my bill pay with my bank using Firefox browser. However, I am able to use it logging on with Microsoft Edge. What has changed with Firefox recently? This has only become a problem as of today.

The messages could not be moved or copied to folder 'Trash on jmor444@gmail.com' because writing to folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Trash, and then choose Compact Folders, and then try again.

Hi, I am reporting that videos on Ebay do not play correctly when using Firefox. I am a business seller on ebay and have just spent £900 on a professional product video for our 1000s of listings. I have used Firefox as my browser for many years. However I have discovered that when viewing product videos on ebay on a laptop/desktop, the videos are significantly reduced in size for 3 or 4 seconds with part of a dialogue box showing and then suddenly increases in size (still not full size though). Very unprofessional looking, very glitchy, very ugly. It would discourage sales rather than encourage them. Please investigate and fix asap. Just getting used to version 128. 1. The background is very black ... I'm sure this can be changed to another colour. How ... can't find this for 128; probably me! 2. I hate threaded emails and have changed View/Sort By/Unthreaded. Does this fix all email threading's or is there some other Setting that I should use?
