I have had a great deal of difficulty with Firefox on the Dell support site, however since the latest Firefox update, we see Firefox routinely become unresponsive when trying to access the download site.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

I have already reset Firefox, as well as trying a new profile (prior to resetting).

Again, this is a problem that seems limited to the Dell support site

Does anything show up in the Web Console (Web Developer > Web Console;Ctrl+Shift+K) ?

I get this file with the first link:

Do you have any security software (firewall, anti-virus) or ad-blocking software or extensions that might be blocking that content from downloads?

That is one of the files we are trying to download. We are seeing this on ALL client machines here, and only on this site.

Again, we tried disabling all addons, with no change to the results at the Dell site. We do have the standard Norton Internet Security installed, but nothing in the logs to indicate that it is doing anything related to this problem (blocking, quarantine, etc.)

I see a lot of things in the web console, but no clue of the significance (if any)...not a web developer :) Apparently too big to post here...

You only need to inspect network related messages in the Web Console and you can disable all other messages via their button.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

OK...tried the safe mode boot, no difference that i can see. I have now seen it on a Home Depot page as well.

The Home Depot page was able to be opened in IE Tab...apparently it does not like Firefox.

Here was the link. http://www.homedepot.com/Decor-Area-Rugs-Mats-Stair-Tread-Runners/h_d1/N-5yc1vZba74/h_d2/Navigation?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=

On that page we selected one of the items, which had the below link. This page would not load in Firefox, but would in IE Tab

That page opens for me without problems.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Also make that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) isn't blocking content.
