I've got Flash 10.3 installed (screenshot of installed system plugins screenshot of installed system plugins) and yet Firefox will not detect its existence. I've tried reinstalling both Flash and Firefox to no effect. I'm a little stumped, to be honest.

On a Mac, Firefox is an 64 bit application. So you need a 64 bit Flash version to be able to use Flash in Firefox.

You can test if it works if you start Firefox as a 32 bit application.

  1. Close Firefox
  2. Start the Finder and open the Applications folder
  3. Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
  4. Select "Get Info"
  5. Select or Deselect "Open in 32-bit mode"
  6. Close the "Firefox Info" window
  7. Restart Firefox

Well, that done fixed it. I thought Flash had gone 64-bit, though? (Clearly not). Thanks!
