Firefox updated, but now says I have to restart which I did, and it says to restart again. Tried several times, can't upgrade over cause it says to restart

Firefox said there was an update available. So I said okay and it updated and said I need to restart, which I did. Now I can't get to the internet via Firefox, it keeps telling me to reboot. I've tried several times. Even tried going vis Internet Explorer to Firefox and tried to upgrade, but it says I have to restart to finish an earlier upgrade. But when I restart, it still says I need to restart, I am going in circles
