Hello there. I can no longer access Google on Firefox and therefore cannot search either. I get the "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site" message. Problem started about 24 hours ago. I have cleared data and history.

Did you try Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#search104 Also try this ---> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remove-websites-address-bar-suggestions Is the issue just going to the site or logging in? I have no issue with google. see screenshot

Thank you I will try that. The issue is with trying to search in the address bar and with trying to access the Google website if I type the url. Also, I am now prevented from logging in to certain sites, eg The Guardian, because "Google reCAPTCHA verification failed".

No, safe mode did not fix the problem. And Google does not come up as a website address bar suggestion. I'm puzzled.

Are you using a proxy or VPN?

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

I can access all websites I have tried except Google. If I try a Google websearch in the address bar or enter the Google url I get a page that it will not let me screenshot but it says:

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at www.google.com.

If you entered the right address, you can:

   Try again later
   Check your network connection
   Check that Firefox has permission to access the web (you might be connected but behind a firewall)

Interesting... open a cmd prompt and run nslookup google.com

Here is what I get.

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. I have been off the computer for a couple of days but when I checked just now Google is available - its return as mysterious as its disappearance. Thank you again.
