These steps may do it for you: - click the 'write' button to bring up compose window - click View>toolbars to verify that Composition Toolbar is visible - right-click on composition toolbar and from the pop up menu locate 'send' and 'attach' and drag to bar.

Click 'write'. then, move mouse to top of screen in Thunderbird, right-click and select 'menu bar' and 'composition bar'

Hi David, I do not get any options when moving mouse to top and right-clicking I only get minimize and maximize and close with Alt-F4

Oops. my error. click 'write' and then click the alt button. the menu should appear at top. click view and tick the menu bar and composition bar to ensure they always show up.
