Hi, I've been a Firefox user for many years and don't have the slidest idea of what password I used to setup the account. I read in the Firefox documentation that I could loose all my information if I change my email but that's exactly what I need to do. I currently use gmail and have switched to Outlook. Two questions, how do I change to Outlook without loosing bookmarks, etc. and can I import my gmail accounts into Outlook. Thank you in advance. PS, I created a Recovery Key

There is no way of making your changes.

Resetting the sync password, or changing its e-mail will remove all data from the servers. The username and password are used to create the encryption.

This is a security feature. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information

  • I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do
  • I’ve forgotten, or don't have access to, my Firefox Account email address

Note: Only the data on the servers is cleared. The profile data is not changed or removed.

Go ahead and make your changes. The data on the computer will not be lost.

If you still have the recovery key then you should be able to access the account, but this is only useful if you want to access personal data stored on the Sync server. If you merely want to (re)connect to the Sync account and not want to recover data on the Sync server then you can simply reset the password for the Sync account.

Note that Sync isn't designed to be used as a backup, but is merely meant to sync data between connected devices and with only one device connected there is not much reason. Best is always to backup your personal data locally.

Firefox is just a Browser and any email importing or migration from Gmail or Outlook you want o read on their email support site to be sure your getting the right instructions on how to do it correctly. I think your confusing Firefox forum support site with the actual Gmail and Outlook email that isn't connected to Mozilla.

I think you misunderstood as it seems to be about a Firefox Account and the OP wants to know how to change the email used.
