When I download pics, Firefox keep resizing them to a tiny size (10-15k). I need to maintain high resolution.
This was not a problem previously, so it must have to do with a new setting of some sort.

try the above video link and if it is still not working then try to install add-on and some extension regarding this problem.
even if you don't get proper answer you can reinstall the firefox or clear caches and cookies.
All you problem should gone.
Are you using a proxy or does your ISP automatically resize images to speed up the download or minimize your internet traffic?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check the connection settings.
- Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
