Sounds like an issue with your e-mail provider.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?
While you are in safe mode;
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Hello rodonoghue,
This may or may not have anything to do with your current problem, but your system details show that you have an extension installed called 'FromDocToPDF', which is a browser hijacker, malware that you will of course want to get rid of.
See : https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/13182-fromdoctopdf-toolbar
Go to the Firefox menu (≡) => Add-ons => Extensions and please remove 'FromDocToPDF', as well as anything that looks unfamiliar or suspicious.
Do the same in Windows Control Panel.
Next step : run malwarescans - further information can be found in this article :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. They all work differently - what one program doesn't pick up, the other might.
Back to your problem : As FredMcD already suggested, this sounds like a problem with your email provider - you don't mention wich email provider you use (?)
Unless your problem is caused by forementioned malware (which I think is unlikely, but one never knows .... ) - would you please take a look at this article :
