When I close a tab, I cannot read the remaining tabs

I am not even sure how to describe the issue so I am including a screenshot. This happens every time I close a tab and it goes away when I minimize and then maximize the browser. I was hoping there is a way to fix this. It happens even when there are only 3 tabs and I close one, the other two are jumbled and I cannot make out what they say. The issue has persisted through many updates, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling.

Did you customize FF?

Please check : Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

My apologies for the late reply, I just remembered I asked about this, I have been dealing with it so long it seems normal by now lol. I followed all suggestions given, and uninstalled all extensions and addons and the problem persists. I have not customized FF in any way. I attempted to try using a theme and it behaves the same way so I uninstalled that as well.

It seems I have discovered the issue. It is in the themes. The default theme, and any I download cause it to occur. However, the dark and light theme that are in my library (assume they come with FF since I didn't download those ever) work just fine.

This poses a query. Is there something in the settings that is causing that to happen for the other themes? It doesn't matter whether the theme was created 3 days ago, or 9 years ago. I would like to add a theme other than just the light and dark but none behave properly. I assume there has to be something that can be fixed somewhere since others are able to use these themes with no issues?

Any time images leave "trails" on the screen I am suspicious of an incompatibility between Firefox and your graphics driver software. You could try disabling Firefox from using hardware acceleration. This article will point you toward that setting on the Options page: Firefox's performance settings.
