Firefox 60 never loads a page. Stuck on a white page forever.

Since yesterday I'm experiencing issues with my Firefox 60 on Win 7. I can't load any page and it stucks in an endless loop with an empty tab.

I can however use every other browser without issues. The issue also arises with local addresses. So far I did the following:

1.) Clear Cache and Browser Data

2.) Remove the useless pocket thingy.

3.) Verified that there no proxy settings blocking the connection.

What is wrong with the engine? Why is it stuck in an endless loop?

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

I fixed it. Solution doesn't make sense but whatever.

1.) Start in in safe mode

2.) Test if it works

3.) Start in normal mode, deactivate all addons and activate them till you find the one causing the endless loop. Remove it.

hi, the last update for firefox 60 happened already a while back - what other changes happened on your system yesterday? you might also try to run a scan with various security tools, like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & eset online one-time scanner.

Glad to hear that the issue is fixed. Sometimes add-ons can cause issues with Firefox, including connectivity issues. This is why removing the add-on that was causing the issue worked.

This forum thread can be viewed by other Firefox users that may be experiencing similar issues. If possible, can you share the name of the add-on that caused the issue? Thanks.
