I am using FF version 54.0.1 and I do NOT want to upgrade. My OS is Windows 10.

Never had problems bookmarking before, but just bought a new laptop and I am not able to bookmark. Not interested in old bookmarks I just want to be able to save new bookmarks. The bookmark star turns yellow when I bookmark a page indicating that the page is bookmarked, however when I open the library, there is nothing there.

I have a lot of add ons but that is not the problem. This was a problem without any add ons.

Internet Explorer has my old bookmarks, but I don't see any new ones. Yes I tried to import the old ones to FF but it can not do it.

Why does this occur and how can I fix it. Even the person that fixes laptops could not fix it.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page or Places Maintenance can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Normally it turns blue, but you may have an add-on or custom style rules that modifies colors. If you click the button to show the Edit Bookmark panel, what folder does it say the bookmark currently is in? You may need to use the little "v" button to expand the folder tree if you buried it somewhere in the menu/toolbar.

no matter what I do. Edit, show all bookmarks, recently bookmarked, open sidebar. There is nothing there. The star is yellow and has always been even when I do not use an addon. When I edit it, it will be there but when I leave the page, It does not save it.

You sure have a lot of add-ons, among which :

'Add Bookmark here' (no sign of it being migrated to Webextensions) and 'BookmarksDropDown'.

Would you disable them (not simultaneously) and see if that'll make a difference  ? Mere stab in the dark, but worth a try .....

Yes I will try the profile suggestions. To the person who commented about my addons. I stated that even when I have no addons this problem is still there.

I want to stop these answers. Thank you for thoses who replied.
