Win 10 FF 44.0.2. Yahoo's using two stage login. I get past user name entry, but password entry just spins and spins, does not continue. Can see Yahoo website but cannot log in either directly or with pass word manager. Yahoo sign in works on Internet Explorer. I've done nothing lately to my system. Have tried and failed w/ add-ons disabled. What's new or the problem w/ FF. [Please do not waste my time asking for technical info on my system -- you either know this one or you do not.]

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Nuts. I wrote the original question but cannot update it. The email notice I received did not offer a correct choice. I did not answer it solved. I did the entire solution and it may have allowed me to sign in to Yahoo once. Later however I could not get past the Moxilla Support website sign in nor a seeking alpha sign in. I'm not really sure the solution solved my problem but I appreciate the reply.

Well you are back here again. The solution does appear to have been chosen by you, but I will clear that for you.

If you are looking at emails note this is all on a public forum at https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1112934

Does the solution work again at least on one a repeatable one off basis ?

Apparently you did eventually manage to sign in to the Mozilla site as you posted a reply {#answer-852684). Sorry I personally have no answers regarding the problem with Yahoo's two stage login.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
