You reset your password from your webmail account.

If you know your current password and you want to modify/reset the password, then using a browser, logon to your webmail account and reset the password. Then test to make sure can use it to access the webmail account.

If you do not know the password, there is usually a 'forgotten password' link and you follow the instructions to get access to the webmail account. They are not going to send an email because how would you get access to the webmail account to see it. If the webmail account is for a website you own, then they would send an email but it would be to a different and main email address, possibly one issued to you by your ISP. This is because they understand that you cannot access the website webmail.

After resetting the password on the webmail server, you then need to remove any saved passwords in Thunderbird. Then when you GetMail or restart Thunderbird, it will prompt for the new password.

How to remove old stored password in Thunderbird:

  • Tools > Options > security > Passwords tab
  • click on 'Saved Passwords'
  • click on 'Show passwords'
  • select both mailbox and smtp passwords for the account
  • click on 'Remove'
  • click on close
  • click on OK
  • Restart Thunderbird to force a prompt to enter new password.

re: Cant log in to Mozilla.

I just realised that you may not be talking about Thunderbird. Are you refering to changing the password to this website?

Yes that is the problem. Can't log in to the Mozilla web site. Nothing to do with web mail.

Thanks

Tom

I am still not sure what site you are talking about. You are logged in here or you could not post anything. Maybe supply a link to what you are talking about.
