Tab groups in Firefox for Android help you organize related tabs together, making it easier to manage browsing sessions, projects, shopping, travel planning, and more.

You can create groups, rename them, assign colors, rearrange them, and add or remove tabs at any time.

Create a tab group

You can create a tab group in several ways.

Drag one tab onto another

1. Open the tab tray.
2. Touch and hold a tab.
3. Drag it onto another tab.

   

4. Enter a group name.
5. Choose a color for the group.

   

Firefox creates a new tab group containing both tabs.

Add a tab to a group from the menu

1. Open the tab tray.
2. Tap the three-dot menu on a tab.
3. Tap Add to group.
4. Choose:
   • An existing group, or
   • Create new group

   

View tab groups

Grouped tabs appear in the tab tray as a single card with:

• A group name
• A color indicator
• Tab previews and favicons

To open a group:

• Tap the group card.

To close the group view:

• Tap outside the group, or
• Use the back button.

Edit a tab group

You can rename groups, change colors, and manage tabs inside them.

Rename a group

1. Open the tab group, or locate it in the tab tray.
2. Tap the three-dot menu.
3. Tap Edit.
4. Enter a new name.
5. Save your changes.

Change the group color

1. Open the tab group, or locate it in the tab tray.
2. Tap the three-dot menu.
3. Tap Edit.
4. Select a new color for the group.

Add tabs to a group

1. Open the tab menu.
2. Drag a tab into an existing group.

   

Remove a tab from a group

1. Open the group.
2. Tap the three-dot menu.
3. Tap Delete.

   

Rearrange tab groups

You can rearrange tab groups the same way you rearrange tabs.

1. Open the tab tray.
2. Touch and hold a tab group.
3. Drag it to a new position.

Delete a tab group

You can close groups using the same actions available for regular tabs.

1. Tap the three-point menu on the group card
2. Tap Delete group.

   

Manage groups in the tab tray

Firefox includes a dedicated Groups section in the tab tray alongside:

• Private tabs
• Tabs
• Groups
• Sync

This makes it easier to switch between regular tabs and grouped tabs.
