After upgrade to FF 29.0 on Mac OSX 10.9.2 the background images are not showing.

They seem to be working on windows machines so this is just a Mac / FF issue.

here are a couple of examples.

This is clearly a bug in FF, can you advise how to fix ? thanks

Hi,

It does appear to work fine on Windows and I just had someone test it on their Mac running OS X 10.8 (is this issue only on 10.9? or have you tried it out on 10.8 as well?) and Firefox 29. It looks like Firefox 30 (beta) had a problem and Firefox 32 (Nightly/central) didn't, the latest release (29.0) loaded just fine for the tester.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • The image "new fx menu" does not exist. > Options/Preferences> Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • The image "new fx menu" does not exist. > Options/Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thanks Moses, appreciate the reply.

I don't have Mac 10.8 to test.

FF 29.0 seems very flaky on Mac 10.9.2, it crashes very regularly.

I have removed all cookies, and removes all cached content, but still does not work, I cannot see background images on the 2 sites above,

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.
