Try to clear the cache and cookies only from websites (addons.mozilla.org and possibly addons.cdn.mozilla.net) that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

See also Clear Recent History.

BTW, I *could* live with the stripped-down-plain-text formatting style. The REAL problem here is that we are unable to get & install any add-ons. The install process begins... the progress status bar starts to move.... then after a few seconds it stops, and the phrase "Error Downloading" appears.

My brain is officially fried at this point. Support would be very appreciated!

Did you "Clear the Cache" and "Remove Cookies?"

Those steps were also tried but didn't help.

UPDATE: The problem resolved itself on its own. I walked away from the machine out of sheer frustration. Came back 2 days later, and everything worked fine. Must've been a glitch with the website.
