I find no way to do it, and as a open system, it seems to me that exporting settings, preferences and add-ons for FireFox and Thunderbird should be a user-friendly, simple process via cable-connect transfer or, preferably through USB thumb drives. Is there a way, or which files contain preference settings that must be transferred for these programs. I know how to do the bookmarks, but transfer of other preferences, histories, mail folders for Thunderbird, I don't, and it seems there should be a batch program to collect the necessary files on USB drive and transfer them to the program on another PC.

You can do this manually by copying the profile folder, for details see Profile backup - MozillaZine Knowledge Base or Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

For Firefox you can use the FEBE add-on to do this. Another option that works with Firefox and Thunderbird is the free MozBackup utility.
