only the Firefox simply hangs. the page starts to load but will never finish. I have to close and restart FF to get it to respond again

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode (don't forget to select Disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and this one for plugins.

If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

I am using the same operating system; have done the same things as Tim. Same result.

However, in Safari and Chrome, Flash works perfectly fine. So why would I contact Adobe? It seems like it's a problem with Firefox.

Anne, Adobe creates a different version of Flash just for Internet Explorer. That should tell you something. It's Adobe's job to make Flash compatible with Firefox, not the other way around.

Flash keeps crashing on firefox but its not just on here its on google chrome too and my internet explorer is acting up so i cant even see if it works on there

Y'know, when everything works fine BEFORE the upgrade, and stops working AFTER the upgrade, being told "Oh, it's someone else's fault!" isn't particularly helpful... especially when the main promise of the upgrade was to protect Firefox from Flash crashes. Now, I either disable Flash, or I can't use Firefox. I'm up to date on both Firefox and the plugin. I find it difficult to imagine that if so many people are reporting constant CTDs with 3.6.4 and Flash 10.1, that none of these showed up in debugging... and if it's a known flaw in the newest Flash player, why have an automated nag screen which urges us to upgrade to Flash 10.1? The level of hype about the new "crash proof" 3.6.4 combined with the fact I've had more crashes since upgrading than I've had in the six months prior combined does not leave me with warm fuzzy feelings.

I have the same problem! Super annoying! My other browsers work perfectly, so I'm concidering changeing to Opera, for good. Does'nt seem like you FireFox people want to help us!

If you're having issues with 3.6.4 and the Flash plugin, please take a look at Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again and increase the timeout as indicated.

JYOuyang: I have the correct plugin for Flash. My problem is not the "Flash crashed" icon, which would be generally acceptable, but FIREFOX crashing, usually rather dramatically. I have since regressed to Firefor 3.6.3. I am still using Flash 10.1, the newest version. This no longer causes Firefox to crash. Now then -- if the same plugin causes no crashes in the new version of Firefox and does cause crashes in the prior version, it is not exactly a humongous leap to conclude that maybe, just maybe, there was a bug introduced in Firefox 3.6.4? I mean, it's not as if a major feature of 3.6.4 was a significant change in how plugins interact with the browser or anything... oh, wait, there was, wasn't there? Hmmm. Saying "It's Adobe's fault!" rings a little hollow when the 10.1 plugin works correctly in the prior version of Firefox. Any kind of host/plugin model relies on a contract between the host and the plugin, and when there's a crash, it indicates one side or the other broke that contract. Under the circumstances, it's difficult not to suspect the blame for this lies on the Firefox side. It's certainly possible that Adobe's code IS broken and the problem is that it SHOULD work with the new version of Firefox, if it were properly written, but it's not, so it doesn't. However, no one seems to want to dig down to find out or provide a workaround other than regressing to 3.6.3, so that's what I've done -- Firefox does too many other things right for me to switch browsers at this point.

Lizard: Stay with 3.6.3 for now then.

Version 3.5.10 is recommended instead of 3.6.3, since it includes the latest security fixes, which 3.6.3 doesn't. 3.5.10 doesn't include out of process plugins.

After latest Firefox and Flash upgrades (prior 25June2010)...

While Firefox hanged, right clicked on Firefox in taskbar repeatedly until focus goes away from Firefox and popup menu appears. As long as the popup menu displays, Firefox and Flash operate.

Then, rolled back to previous OS restore point before new Firefox upgrade, and Flash upgrade. Both work, for now...
