In previous versions of firefox for ipad, a blue notification was shown temporarily at the bottom of the screen when a tab was closed, allowing to tab This was really helpful, as it happens quite frequently, that I hit the close icon accidentally when switching tabs. Any chance this feature can be enabled again? Thanks

Seems it was on its way out for very long, esp. for causing other issues, up to a point where the code got fully removed github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/issues/32322 — the recommendation is to use the history library functionality for that: github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/issues/30876

Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately, the recommendation does not work in private tabs, as there is no history available :/

Yeah I actually think the "undo" in private browsing was causing most of the issues, in terms of retaining the data, and e.g. handling app termination at the same time — the support of this workflow might have been the actual driver for its entire removal:( — esp. if the tab was the last Private Browsing tab, the expectation in removing the backing session immediately (for app close or new Private tab clean slate) vs. the ability to keep the session still available for undo lead to unexpected behavior and security/privacy issues.

I've added that comment to the tracking ticket logging the feature request.
