I deleted my profile from firefox and now firefox says I can't use it because I don't have a profile

A couple of days ago I noticed that Firefox had started using "Profiles". I do not want a profile. When I wanted to open firefox a window popped up asking me to pick a profile. I deleted my account. Now Firefox will not let me use it because I don't have a "Profile". If I cannot use firefox without a profile, which I never had to do for umpteen years, then I well switch to Chrome.

Follow up to first question. I just wanted to add that I am the only person using this computer. Absolutely no one uses it but me. All the more reason I don't need a profile. I can use DuckDuckGo, Brave or others, without a profile but I would still appreciated an answer to my original question. I just do not understand why I suddenly have to have a Profile, and sign into that profile, just to use Firefox when I never had one before.

Did you delete the profile folder on the hard drive in "AppData\Roaming"? If you removed the folder but left the profile registry files profiles.ini and installs.ini then Firefox can't find the profile listed there.

Thanks for your response. No, I didn't delete anything on AppData\Roaming
