New install of Debian 13, Firefox Toolbar customization does not work (Firefox ESR 128.13)

New installation of Debian 13, Firefox setup with sync on successful. However, I wanted to add hone button and a few other mods to the toolbar but when I started customize the toolbar from menu pic the customization page would not work, it appeared and seemed OK but when I dragged and dropped anything it would not work. I could pickup items but they would not place in toolbar and just snapped back to the pallet. I tried several different ways to enter the customization area but it was always non-functional.

Try downloading the same version from Mozilla. Download, unzip, and run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/128.13.0esr/linux-x86_64/en-US/

Also see if a different user account has the same issue.

Hi John

I am using Debian 13 (Xfce) myself and with the copy of Firefox that came with it, I can customise the toolbar. So that i can try to recreate the issue exactly, what tools are you trying to add?

Hi Paul,

Thank you for getting back with me! I was primarily trying to put the home button on the toolbar, but as I indicated nothing was working on the customize toolbar screen, I could grab an item and move it to the toolbar, but it wouldn’t place it on the bar – it just flew back to the tool pallet. I have a machine with Debian 12.1 and Firefox works perfectly on that install, so I think it has something to do with a new install of Debian 13 or the fact that I synchronized with my Firefox account before I fiddled with the toolbar. I think what I will try is uninstalling Firefox and then reinstall it and do all my tweaks to the interface before syncing with my account.

You don't have to try to replicate the condition because it is probably my fault in syncing my Firefox account before I had done all the interface tweaking. Thanks again, John
