Connection Issues

8 out of 10 times that i try to connect to the following site:

https://www.tax.ny.gov/online/

I get the following error message:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to otc.tax.ny.gov. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

Error code: PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Now and then, I'm able to log in successfully. lately though, I'm having trouble logging in using Firefox browser.

This is becoming very frustrating. What could be the issue? What do i need to do to resolve the problem?

I blame security software... What security software besides MS Defender are you running? If you're running Windows Pro version, I would test in the Sandbox to confirm. https://www.howtogeek.com/399290/how-to-use-windows-10s-new-sandbox-to-safely-test-apps/

I'm using Bitdefender security software on Windows 11. Should I contact them?

I will follow your link to see if it helps. Thank you.

Howtogeek: Also, I have Windows 11 Home. I clicked on your link, but it addresses Windows 10, not Windows 11?

Can you disable BitD, reboot, and try again? You can also boot windows into Safe Mode with networking to test Firefox without BitD. Yes, the Howtogeek link is for Windows 10 or 11 Pro. You could try BitD forum for help with that issue. I had the same issue with Kaspersky years ago, but I no longer run those apps.
