latest versions of firefox (now at 140.0.1) keeps opening onto my 2nd monitor which is off - how to stop it doing it. Tried making new profile which works for awhile, but sooner or later they all bump it to the 2nd monitor and it never comes back - tried moving to primary and closing it there, but next time back on #2. Open 2nd window while first is on primary, and that goes to 2nd monitor...

...my 115esr does not do this, nor my 128esr...

Your operating handles monitors, not Firefox. Profiles shouldn't make any difference. Why do/did you think so?

guess you mean my operating SYSTEM handles monitors... so, just desperate to try anything to get firefox to stop opening to 2nd monitor and trying 'anything', so hence trying a new profile - but, on a side note: IT DID WORK, but only for a few days... so it DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE that was immediate (just not lasting...)

reassigned my 2nd monitor as 'primary', and it's normally off, and now firefox opens on the laptop display, normally on... stupid firefox is intentionally avoiding primary?!?

why don't my firefox esr's do this - after switching primary to 2nd monitor, they still open on the laptop display (smarter?)

But why does creating a new profile allow it to be on primary if only but for a few days ?!?

btw - using Ubuntu 24.04.2LTS (linux) as operating SYSTEM :-O
