Blocking adds seems NOR to work anymore in YouTube !

more options

I have had AddBlockPlus installed for years blocking ALL adds ! I have lately seen adds before I can see videos in YouTube ! I use FireFox in latest update - automatic updates itself.

I have tried to UN-install and then RE_install AdblockPlus with no luck - I stille on some videos have adds - one or even two - before I can see the video !

If I wait for a while to start the video sometimes the adds disappears and I can see the video.

I beleave it has to do with updating Windows to 20H2 - because I think I have got the problem after that update.

What can I do to get these adds til Hell ?

ok. I have not heard of that YouTube Cleaner and thought it was something you had installed. So i looked it up.

While it is being promoted at Mozilla, i dont think it is certified by Mozilla. See link at bottom.

Regardless, for every action their is a reaction.

So its likely that the FF extension YouTubeCleaner did work at one point. But YouTube may have wised up about the ad blocker and re-engineered its system. In which case, the extension would then need to be re-engineered to bypass YouTubes re-engineering.

In any case my fellow FireFox friend, as long as FireFox is functioning by playing the YouTube videos, albeit with ads, there isnt anything wrong with the browser.

Just some fyi - FireFox is engineered to protect your privacy. And in doing so, ad makers cannot know what are your interests as you browse on the internet and then send you targeted ads.

My suggestion at this time is that if you are not aware that an extension was installed on your browser, then you should remove it.

Why are so few reacting on this add-Hell and specific the add on "Clean YouTube" = a TAB that opens now and then ?

How can I get rid of this garbage ?

it is my opinion, that ads over the years have evolved into different formats. If i am not mistaken the ads for YouTube are downloaded / shown in the same format as the actual video's you want to watch.

So in effect, if you have an ad blocker that blocks a youtube ad, then it would also block the video too - since both are in the same format.

But i could be wrong.

For now, the only way to block youtube ads is to pay youtube their money. And if you install something promoting the ability to block ads, then you and computer may become victims of something far worst than be forced to watch the gieco ads

I think you're wrong here - it's within 4-5 weeks that I've seen the problem evolve.

For years I have had AdBlockPlus installed and I have never seen an add 'inside' the video I'm viewing - but lately some videos STARTS with 1 or 2 adds, not all, but some - and sometimes I only see a split second of the add and then the video starts - very starge behavior, I think !

And I've never seen this extra TAB with add for 'YouTube Cleaner' before.

... come on, I can't be the only one with this problem !
